For me, this is for being in environments with loud music and helping to protect my hearing. The Wirecutter makes a good case for why virtually everyone should have these. This model is suitable for regular folks, if you play drums in a band EG you may want to go for the next option up.

  Had (and lost) these, they're okay. The carry case is pretty neat, though
  Used prediminantly for concerts & nightclubs;
  I think I'd go with earasers if you can spring for them.

      Bit more pricier but I've used Earpeace for several years without any issues. You can change the filters to different strengths depending on your scenario and they look very discreet.

      Etymotic have been my choice for a long time. Good fidelity and not so pricey that if you lose one you're not scrabbling around on the floor in a club or festival looking for it, just have spares in the car.

    I don't really know! I'm just going off Wirecutter's recommendation. My understanding is that Pro isn't needed unless you are exposed to loud music frequently, eg as part of your job.
