In my experience Ted's is expensive with poor service. Would take a lot more than $50 to convince me to shop there.

    • I'm not sure about service but their price has been the factor for me not going to their stores. Some may swear by them, while others (like me) will shop around to find the best deal before handing over our hard earn money.

  • any one tried their Price Match Enquiry option?

"If you're ready to buy online at Ted's but have seen a cheaper price on a competitor's website, please fill out the form below and we'll get back to you with our best online price*.
Please note this isn't a guaranteed price match service, we do our best to match other Australian retailers and for Canon EOS DSLR we will also do our best to match overseas retailers**."

    • I tried their price matching. They only came part way to meeting the price I found :S At that time, I'm sure they were advertising they'd match their competitor's prices :S

Also, just weeks ago they had a second price matching policy. If you find it cheaper, within 7 days (or so) of purchase, you could get them to refund the difference. But it had a clause that said, they could choose to refund you the difference or just cancel the whole transaction :S

Thing is, if you can find it cheaper elsewhere, then why buy from them at all?

  • Min $500 is a bugger, otherwise would have been good deal.

    • Most of the gear should be above $500 anyways?

  • 10% or less SALE. Minimum Purchase $500. How Lame.

Teds is the worst place to buy a camera product. They are heavily over priced. I would check in JB or Camera House before buying from them. When I was buying my 60D with 18-200 lens, Teds quoted $1800 and Camera House and JB quoted $1500. Finally bought it from JB

    • I just picked up a camera for $400 that Ted's wanted to sell for $500 :S

  • I went into Teds a few weeks ago with a view to buy an intervalometer. The woman there first looked at me like I was stupid, then tried to sell me a GPS device. Don't feel any desire to go back there, to be honest.

    • intervalometer for a Canon camera? Is there a CHDK you can load?

  • Lol is this a joke ?

    • Yes it is. I am glad you didn't fall for it.

  • Teds only sell products at RRP, meaning even with $50off, you will still be pay more then other shops.

    • Yeah I went in Sunday and asked how much a 5D MK III was - they gave me a price of $3999.
What!! I believe that's more that the current RRP on a 5D mk III (according to the Canon salesperson at Digital Show it was something like $3899 from memory) JB were doing same camera for ~$3650.. hmmmmmmm
      No sale Teds!

    • The only time I've ever bought from Teds was when I was going overseas and therefore got my GST back through the TRS. It then brought the price in line with everywhere else.
