TN panel for those wondering (under "tech specs"): https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/accessories-and-software/moniā€¦

179 should be the regular price then imo

      • Because FHD 144-165 Hz? Agree, should be below $150 these days.

Because TN? Nah fam, this is modern TN.

        • Even a TN from the future will not match IPS or OLED, probably not even VA. The only reason anyone should get TN is for 240hz+ when they are happy to sacrifice color and contrast for max refresh.

@reactor-au: IPS is currently the slowest technology, and often isn't good enough for 144Hz still due to powdered trailing.

The Samsung G7 is currently the fastest LCD panel in the world alongside the ASUS VG258QM.

IPS tends to have the worst contrast of the 3 technologies due to poor black levels.

IPS has the capacity for the best colour consistency, which was the whole point of it, but they are all competing for colour gamut, colour volume, and colour accuracy comes down to manufacturer calibration (if any).

Yes, IPS panels are often used for professional work, but for example with HDR mastering, you're looking at dual layer IPS with extremely tight calibration, and awful response times for gaming… oh and they cost $10000+

IPS is king for productivity or - at this basic consumer level - for some colour related professional work if calibrated, but it is otherwise a distant second to fast VA and modern TN for everything else.

For a primary gaming or entertainment/multimedia monitor, you should not be even looking at IPS, particularly in a dark or dim room due to IPS glow.

Please exit the Reddit/YouTube circle jerk, unless you've got a $180 Gigabyte G24F deal to post.

@jasswolf: I guess that's why TN is so popular these days then. NOT.

              Here's your TN fanboi badge.

@reactor-au: But I'm a microLED and QNED fanboi?

I'm just not huddled in an overcrowded and sealed room, musing about LCD panel technology with nothing but a printout from Reddit as a reference while everyone grows more and more delusional due to hypoxia.

Open the door, let some air in.

    • Also not curved. Listing error with this one.

Is there any higher resolution monitor in similar price range?

    • No, but plenty good 1440p monitors at $300 mark
