Yes it's still expensive but latest generation AMD CPU and DDR 5 package for similar money to last generation recent sales. Still a super portable solution if you must have a high power gaming laptop you can juggle, or whatever.

  • How much are they usually?

im considering buying a Mac for this price but if these things are decent enough i could hold off having to buy a new GPU for my desktop for a year or so.

  • +4

Good price, almost pulled the trigger on this at $3700 a few weeks back but decided to get the 15" model instead.
FYI RAM is soldered on and cannot be upgraded at all.

EDIT: Razers Quality control and customer service is questionable, plus it only has 1 year warranty (2 years on the battery). I recommend price matching with JB hifi and buying additional warranty.

  • whats sku model number trying to find last sales on ebay

    • +1

i got the RB14 with the 5800HX RTX 3070 for $2300 from Microsoft eBay store this isn't much faster but has quite a bit better battery life and a mux switch. Great machine very expensive but its pretty unique. Competition is the Asus ROG zephyrus g14 2022 but its a plastic build however it does have a ram slot that's upgradable.Good review of the 2022 RB here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lDq8ai8u6E

  • How’s the Intel 12th gen cpu variant compared to this?

    Which has better battery life?

    • +2

Unfortunately both Intel 11th and 12th gen are very power hungry and generate a lot of heat in general. Their battery life is considerably worse than AMD Ryzen over the last couple of generations.

      https://www.notebookcheck.net/Core-i5-beats-Core-i7-Alder-La…

"We reviewed a few new Alder Lake-P CPUs from Intel over the last two weeks and our concerns are supported by the test results. The power consumption is very high, which is a challenge for the cooling solutions. "

      • Thanks for the info. That’s unfortunate I thought I read some reviews praising the improvements on 12th gen chips. Maybe not the power efficiency.

        • +1

12th gen only starts performing from 65w TDP and up. It's ok if you have a really big gaming chassis, with good cooling to reduce how often it throttles. However battery life is still bad. Unfortunately thin chassis don't have that luxury of exotic cooling. Ryzen performs at 45w TDP and below, where 12th gen has a big performance drop, and works well in thinner chassis.

Its expensive for Ryzen and 16GB when last month you could have got X15 R2 with 32GB with 12th gen.

Yes that Ryzen is probably preferred than 12th gen but as a price indicator usually AMD is cheaper than Intel…

Razer Blades are expensive but comparable with AW X15 (M15 are usually cheaper).

    • Does the X15 come in a 14" sleek and portable form factor with a CNC aluminium housing? No? Then no, it's not comparable.

      • not a like for like comparison. I prefer the housing of Blade but prefer the power of 14.

I was more talking about price indicators along the "premium" gaming laptops.

  • Would this Lenovo be better value than the Razer?

    https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-5…

32gb DDR5 vs 16gb soldered in the Razer, better screen (?) but smaller SSD?

Or one of these with a 3070?

    • +2

Specs is inconsistent on the Amazon listing but that is a Gen 6 with previous gen processor and graphics card. Better to avoid.

The 1st one is definitely better but Legion 5 Pro are usually thicker than Razer Blade so you might want to consider that too

  • How does this laptop compare? Difference in processor and RAM, but ~$500 cheaper

    https://www.computeralliance.com.au/gigabyte-aorus-15-xe4-73…

    • Screen and battery life on the Razer Blade better. Also 1.5" shorter, which doesn't look like much but significantly affects portability if you use a laptop for its main intended purpose - which is to have something on the move.

The Razer also has a CNC aluminium chassis with world class ergonomics. The Gigabyte is cheap plastic with no thought given to ergonomics.

The CPU on the Gigabyte is better than the Razer.

Overall, your user experience will be significantly better with the Razer unless you wanted something bigger.

  • This or the Asus G14 2022 for roughly the same price if shipped from Amazon US HIDevolution?

    https://www.amazon.com/HIDevolution-Zephyrus-Advantage-GA402…

    • +2

Also looking at the G14, i think you can now buy it at some aussie retailers now but there is some supply chain issue. also the model i linked is a cheaper than the amazon link above and with a higher spec model I believe https://www.pbtech.com/au/product/NBKASU4024174/ASUS-ROG-Zep…
Here is a good review on the both models, that just came out today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juavwiVpOCE by Jarred.
Hard to decide what to buy since they are only a few hundred dollars price difference now. But I still think g14 wins out on top due to the upgradability for the future.

      • Great find mate! Though if only it comes with 32GB RAM though, Amazon US HIDevolution has 32-40 GB versions which is covered under their warranty.

Also is there a QHD 120Hz screen option somewhere?

      • Didn't know that G14 now has a webcam!

  • If anyone is looking for something similar but much cheaper, I have a 2021 Razer Blade 14 for sale which is only 3 weeks old for significantly cheaper @ $2399… More info here:

  • Decent deal but still a bit too pricey. This really shows how expensive the blade 14 is.. also the G14 although has a lot of stuff going for it.. blade ultimately beats it with pure gaming performance. G14 would have been perfect if it had a little higher TGP..
