    $279.99 ( MSRP:369.99)

    Why quote MSRP/RRP?

This is $20 off according to the wise camels.

According to Camel the average price is $319.56 so stating the MSRP:369.99 in the title is a bit misleading.

  • Hi OP, what's the minimum start amperage for solar charging? Some other chargers need at least 3A to turn on, apart from Victron which will start charging at <0.1A.

    • +1

The main thing to note with this is if solar and alternator are both connected and the solar is receiving light then the 50A is split 25A max from alternator and 25A max from solar.

So if solar is in low light and only putting in 5A then the alternator can only provide 25A making it a total of 30A.

      • I do a lot of "no alternator" charging when we're camping, so my concern is only on the solar side :)

        • Yes same, so it wasn't an issue for me. Another thing is the PV has a 25v max which may be an issue depending on your panels and if you want to run them in series or parallel.

Their battery monitor/shunt is also a great unit to have.

      • I have this unit and have the solar input on a relay triggered by the ignition. Ie, car turns on, relay opens. No PV so full 50A from the alternator.

        • Yes this is the best way to do it, it's just a shame it can't prioritize solar and make up the rest of the 30/50 amps by alternator.

  • Bought it for 340 in May… That's a good price for a great unit. I'm running it for quite a while and it does exactly what is says no problem. The one bad thing about it is the comms. There's no way to monitor the unit through wifi which is a bit of a bummer.

    • i use the bt2 and use bluetooth on my phone, its not the best app, but it gives enough info to keep the nerd in me happy
