  • Is the floral fantasy worth it?

for 10 bucks? I would pay for the whole entry Garden by the bay, so to get to see everything. at 20 bucks that's a bargain way to spend a good entire day!

      • I had the other two booked previously. No discount though:(

Just bought the floral for $7.xx

    • Hell yeah, it's awesome.

  • Great place, was there yesterday

    • Any other must-do's in Singapore? I might be heading there in September

Botanic Gardens are wonderful. Orchid collection (paid entry) and ginger collection are very special.

        • 10/10 agree

      • +1

Botanical Gardens/National Orchid Garden, Singapore Zoo and Jurong Bird Park.

Grab (their version of Uber) is very cheap compared to here and the public transport is easy.

I enjoyed doing all the corny touristy activities such as boat ride down the river, walking along the bay foreshore and eating at the places Anthony Bourdain visited (though there is so much more everywhere in the burbs like Dempsey Hill).

Infinite places to eat. White pepper crabs are delicious followed with san lou bee hoon was my favourite local dish.

        • Any chance you can share your itinary? Im heading there at the end of this month for 2 days :)

          • @Koipanda: Two days is tight. I would recommend if budget allows the Grab ride share app if travelling between far locations and prioritising some half day or longer activities (Zoos, bird parks, etc) versus shorter stays.

Some activities such as hawker markets can be best enjoyed or are only open in the evening. Ditto the experiences around Marina Bay can be different during the day versus during nightlife hours where the lighting effects are amplified. There are just so many alternate viewpoints from the river ferries to the top observation decks of many buildings.

The botanical and orchid gardens are also a little far away from the city. I liked it for the serenity versus the constant hustle and bustle of the city however would probably skip it unless staying longer.

As a non-local I definitely recommend checking as many YouTube videos that will give you a feel for each place.

      • Check out the Night Safari (Zoo)
Would recommend doing a food tour via Withlocals, after doing a bit of research and reading reviews picked one of guides and he really went above and beyond showing us how to use the MRT (Train) system with all the food included! Best to do this early on to get exposed to Singapore very quickly! If you want their deets happy to send via PM
Haji Lane for dinner (if it's close)
        Sentosa Luge
Universal studios lines were pretty long so if you go may be worth spending a bit extra to get the pass to skip all the lines
        Top of Marina Bay Sands

Hi, can share which foodie guide with MRT instruction? Thanks

          • +2

@darkcolony: Just YouTube all the great food places in SG(newton hawker centre, Haji lane, hajjah maimunah, etc).

I'm from Singapore, so would know. As for MRT, you can buy the tourist pass(unlimited travel for ~3 days I think). Valid for all public transport(train or MRT and buses).

Singapore's Publix transport is very good and you can use Google maps to tell you how to get to your food destination

Also keen for recommendation of food tour…

        • Second the Night Safari, a great way to spend the evening. There really is so much to do in Singapore and it's all close.

Try to find a local guide or even a friendly taxi driver to take you to one of the locals hawkers centers and grab food there, cheaper and more authentic usually.

Sentosa Island is good, especially if you like theme parks.

if you are a foodie. Hit up different Hawker centers for lunch and dinner. it's great food. Plenty of ideas on YouTube. Hit up a Jumbo's for mud crab. Universal studio if you are into that. Marina bay sands, heaps of things around there.
The main Orchard Dr for shopping.

Make sure you get a visitor's metro card at the airport metro station and load it up and you can get anywhere in Singapore with it.

After you have seen the garden during the day, head back again at dusk and see the super trees light up! amazing at night too.

Legoland in Johor, across border in Malaysia (go with a tour bus to make crossing border easier).

Singapore museum is really good too if you like history. The part in WW2 is fascinating. For the best, I think, Indian food in the World try Khansama Tandoori Restaurant in Little India. Just the very best and relatively cheap. No service charge either.

      • The National Museum of Singapore was great, I went a few weeks ago. It gave a really great overview of the countries history, recommend if you’d be in to that sort of thing.

  • 'The voucher is valid for 30 day(s) from the booking confirmation date. It expires at 00:00 the day after the last day. '

So it has to be used in the next 30 days? I'm not going until the end of September. Would be super keen to grab some tickets if dates are open.

For Klook, if you can specify an entry date at the time of booking, it usually means xx days from that nominated date.

I used the free Melbourne attraction pass back in Jan for some tickets on 30 June at sealife and used them without any issues this week. (90 days validity as per TnCs)

      • Thank you. I just found this, unfortunately all sold out for the dates I wanted.

One of my favourite places to see everytime I'm in Singapore. I will bring a book, pop on my headphones and read for hours there.

    • -3

read? Can't you do that at home? Seems like a waste of a holiday

      • +1

I often go over for work, not holidays.

      • +2

Lighten up, you can do whatever the hell you want on holidays.

        • +1

Yep. Different strokes for different folks.

I was knocked out on Millionaire Hot Seat because I didn't know where Gardens by the Bay was haha

    • when the Ozbargain education doesn't come quickly enough

    • Time to make a trip over and learn more about what cost you potentially a million bucks lol. Singapore's usually dead cheap to travel too as well. Sales here all the time :P
