      French researchers found that people who regularly drank artificially sweetened beverages had a higher risk of heart disease and stroke, versus people who avoided those beverages.

      My dad drank Diet Coke all the time and died from a heart attack.

        How did they control for extraneous variables?
        I imagine people that drink a ton of soft drink regardless of sugar-free vs sugar also eat a shit ton of food and don't exercise.
        They also may be more overweight than average hence why they are drinking sugar free drinks.

            @Savas: It's a fair question. It is difficult to make conclusions on health issues due to so many variables due to different lifestyles.
            If the research was done by professionals, they would account for that. I'm interested in seeing the paper or article.

        I read the study (linked below by an ozbargainer) and the error bars for the low and high artificially sweetened beverage consumption both included the “no difference” point. So it’s inconclusive

  Equivalent to $2.75 for a 4pk, versus Bundaberg which only gets to $4.50 on special.

  They removed these from a lot of Victorian stores, so Amazon is the last place to find them within half an hour for me

    Could be that bundaberg "diet" has 4.5g of sugar vs saxbys with 0.25g of sugar
    per 1 bottle serving

  For those who are not sure vs Bundaberg. Saxby's is a lot more spicy than Bundaberg. The diet is even more spicy than the non diet version.
