  • ngl i reckon it would be better to have ovh host your site

    • No worries, any reason behind this? There's a few differences between the plans, but open to providing any comments/information.

      Cheers :)

bigger company (less likely to shutdown or deadpool), their infrastructure is very good (load balancing and networking), they give you more storage than your cheapest plan on discount, offsite backups, + free domain name for first year.

I have had very good experiences with ovh in the past, they never disappoint.

Yes fair enough. They are much bigger and international. The plans are slightly more expensive, but otherwise more storage as you mentioned and the domain name.

          To add though:
          - We do have offsite backups for all plans
          - We use OVH as our provider for dedicated servers, so are using the same infrastructure, network, etc.
          - We have a base limit of 1GB per email account as per OVH, but will always increase this on request to any amount up to the total of the plan
          - The benefits of a smaller company can be seen generally in the support side of things which is our #1 selling point as seen on previous OzBargain posts and online reviews too over the past few year.

Personally I've only dealt with OVH support from the bare metal cloud range, so can't speak in regards to their support for web-hosting, as it may be different.

But glad you've had a good experience with them, as I am sure others have too. Each to their own, thanks for your comment - Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • I can recommend Obble, I've had nothing but helpful service when I xfer'd over 2yrs ago especially migrating my overly complicated cpanel sites across.

I haven't had many reasons to contact support, but even on the weekend it was quick and easy.

    they've been pretty rock solid

    • Thank you!

  • Alex is a legend and I don't even know who the $#ck he is.

    • So are you for every positive comment & I'm not sure which customer you are either ;)

      • Alex
      • To narrow down your guess I host 3 seperate sites with obble.

        IF (customer) $hostsite {<>3} THEN =mspaint ELSE (some_other_dude)

  • We have been using Stealth/Obbe for a few years now, I would say they are much better than OVH in terms of support. And prices are excellent for an Australian hosting provider.

    • Thank you, much appreciated

Alex has been terrific, been a customer for 3 years now and never skipped a beat. In fact, I hosted with OVH as well and had some issues restoring a VM Snapshot. Gave up with OVH Support and just rebuilt the environment.

Regarding the WordPress Hosting, support and advice were 10/10. Migrated a very complicated LMS once and the scripts needed a lot more dedicated grunt - Alex worked with me and tweaked the environment to allow the migration to succeed without any glitches. He even had patience with a newbie like me.

Keep the bucks in Australia and support Australian businesses.

    • Thank you scarface! Appreciate you adding feedback here

  • Any servers in Perth? Found Singapore servers with most providers are quicker from Perth than Sydney

    • Interesting, makes sense I suppose.

Unfortunately just the Sydney servers at this stage. Eventually we may expand to international audiences/servers, and also more around Australia. But not in the short term unfortunately.

      Cheers

  • If I sign up for the Starter SSD plan and then change to the Intermediate plan later on, will I still get the lifetime discount?

    • Yes no issues here, if you have any troubles with the automatic application on upgrade just let us know :)
