  • has any one tested that the google tv usb c cable can charge 45-65w laptop?

    • I use it charge my Macbook Pro M1 14"

    • I use it charge my Lenovo legion 5 pro

  • is it ready to pair with samsung 65w charger below to charge laptop?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/710391

    • I'll let you know in a weeks time as I ordered both to charge my work laptop lol… but should be OK I'd think.

    • I use these Baseus cables with my 65W GaN charger for my laptop, works fine. It should be fine with any decent PD USB C GaN charger.

      • +1

Can vouch for that. I have a 4 port one and one port has 60w( maybe more) USC-C port and used it all the time to charge my MacBook Air mw1 original charging brick and cable of the MacBook still in he the box and battery health is at 98%. I velcro stuck it to the side of my bedside table too and works great as I can take it off and take it with me. Word of advice, don’t cheap out in these fan units. They don’t last May damage your electronics. Make sure it has all the safety features and look after it and it will last for a long time.

    • +1

I have been using this to charge my Lenovo T490 laptop. Should be fine for 65w as long as your charger is capable.

    • +1

I’ve been using exactly as said and it does charge the laptop with no issues. Samsung 65W + Baseus c to cable.

    • I was using it but it recently failed and would stop charging in certain positions

  • +4

LOL. Why build a 100W cable that doesn't do at least 10Gbps? I have to go round labelling all my USB cables… Just have one frigging standard and use it everywhere please!

    • +6

It's just a cost issue, proper fast cables with proper charging cost more to make.

Edit: eg these ones; -30% and still $34; https://www.amazon.com.au/Fasgear-Charge-Macbook-Delivery-Tr…

    • +1

Cost, less flexible cables and data transfer is probably quite rare.

    • +7
    • +3

      Nah.

The USB C cable for my docking station costs like $80 for 0.5m, because I can run 2x 4K screens with it.

But I don't really want to spend that much to charge my bike light, a $2 cable is fine for that.

    • +2

I agree. I'd prefer spending a little more and having a cable that can work for all purposes. There are so many questions in this deal, will it work with X device will it work for Y purpose. For the sake of a few extra conductors and dollars, this would simplify the answer to be "get a type-c cable"

Sometimes I feel like USB-C's flexibility is a downside.

    • LOL why pay more for a cable with high transfer rates when I just need 100w to charge a laptop?

Why be cheap and not buy thunderbolt certified cables? They're rated to 40Gbps

  • +2

Their shipping and handling is worst, Bought from them twice and both times didn’t receive my orders and had to chase them for refunds. Think before you order.

    • +1

After reading this… i looked back and saw an order from May I forgot about was never delivered…. yikes.

      • Chase them for a refund now.

    • +2

They used to sell on eBay. They were kicked out by eBay due to a lot of complaints (myself included). They're now selling via their own website, however, their bad practices still remain.

You should buy from Baseus eBay store directly. That's what I did and a few days later (ships from Australia, unline Shopping Square drop-shipping) I had my 160W car charger (comes with 100W cable).

  • +3

    Feel the POOOOWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAA
    100W oo wee

  • I have the 60w Baseus 2m cable.
Is the 100w cable much thicker and less flexible or is it the same?

    • +2

Not really. There isn't a significant difference.

Has anyone used Ugreen cables? Are they better than Baseus?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Charging-Compatible-Mateboo…

    • Both reputable Chinese brands?

      • They're both reasonable, imo. Reviews that I've seen for both suggest the products are likely to be ok.

I personally am using these cables without issue, though they are not my main cables(Using Apple 100W most of the time).

If you want to go with something that is more reputable, you could consider Anker or Apple.

    • Not a cable, but I've been using a Ugreen 90 degree HDMI adapter to drive a 1440p 144hz display without issues

    Thanks Op

  • Anyone know of a device to measure the wattage of type c cables?

    • +1

EBay / aliexpress "type c tester". It sits between your device and the cable going to the charger. Volts * Amps = the wattage.

      • Awesome, thank you. I've added a few to my wishlist and will buy it once I get my ebay plus monthly $5 off $15 code.

    • +1

I’ve charged my 16” MacBook with this cable and in the system information app it shows a real-time charging rate of 100W.

    • You'll need something that can read the emarker chip inside the cable, which will indicate whether the cable is a 60w cable or a 100w cable. I use the zy1280 usb tester which has this function, however I'm not sure whether this tester supports reading the 48 volt epr cables yet. The good testers can also measure the internal resistance of the cable to indicate whether it is truly capable of the stated wattage without heating/burning up. You can get a tester with these features from aliexpress, and it will likely cost around $100.

    • Just get the cable with the lcd screen. Type c testers cost about $30 for a decent one.

      • I already have a few c to c cables that I want to test. That link is ~$20 aud for a cable lol

        • The cable I linked has a screen and measures power - hence the price

          • @krisspy: I was looking at something like this for $13 aud which will work for all my current type c cables as well as test all future ones.

I have had these for nearly 2 years in the car to charge my phone and laptop. Bought 2 more now :)

    • +1

Don't you find 2m in the car is too long? I've got a 50cm one from the cig lighter to my phone magnet mount and it's just right

      • Nah not really, I have mine connected to the Cig lighter in the centre console of the car, and then tucked down between the seat and centre console. Works out just right for me and is hidden away and tidy. Can also be used by those in the back seat comfortably too

  • From my experience, I had the same Baseus 100W cable it basically stopped working about 2.5 weeks from use the seller was good enough to refund me.
Maybe it was just bad luck with my cable.

    "480Mbps Transmission rate"

I'm assuming this is data-transfer only and does nothing on video?

    • +2

These are USB 2 data transfer speeds. It won't carry a video signal.

      • What about MPEG2 files?

  • I am looking for Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) to DisplayPort cable that works with Mac (M1 max studio). Any suggestions?

  • -1

I've gone through about 3-4 Baseus cables already and I can say that they are NOT durable at all… usually lasts about 6 months max.

    • +4

Interesting. Mine have all held up incredibly well.

      • +1

Same. Mine have worked perfectly. Bought 2 more. Thx OP

    • I got about 4 of them, all doing great so far.. but if I am using them to charge at high wattage plug gets quite hot, otherwise all good

      • Be wary of that my red magic 6s pro charger port melted and so did the usb c cable charging it while I was playing apex legends and using it in landscape mode.

It was scary if I was maybe not paying attention to it and delayed one minute later I think the entire bottom of the phone would have melted or worse the usb cable could have become a live electric hazard.

Have to get that phone charger port replaced now.

Could have been dust or hair that made it start heating up beyond safe levels or a loose cable connection I still don't know after trying to figure out how both the cable and charger port both melted on half the metal.

The cable and the metal part is what alerted me as it was hot when my hand touched it and I smelt burnt plastic.

Be safe be careful I have a feeling the high discharge activity of apex legends a mobile game combined with the high charge rate of the cable is what caused this to happen but it could also just have been bad luck and the cable got dirt in it or just too much wear and tear.. Still haven't figured that out and probably never will.

        • Were you using Baseus cable? Or is your comment regarding using generic no brand?

          • -1

@CodeXD: Generic no brand but nylon braided.

Was not baseus I'm pretty sure.

It was a long cable though either 2m or 3m.

            USB Type C.

My hypothesis is just normal wear and tear as it might have gotten stepped on and pulled on a lot but not sure just my closest guess.

The cable and phone wouldn't have been too old though as I only bought the compatible device in November 2021 and well it malfunctioned earlier this year so less than 12 months and I believe I only have two usb type c devices the phone and a xiaomi portable vacuum oh and a power bank but rarely use it.

    • Apart from some feeling impressive at first I haven’t been particularly impressed with any brand of cable yet.

Special mention of these that lasted less than 3 days.

      • +1

I've had have some Anker 2m micro-usb cables for 6 years now. Braided cables, so not too flexible, but very durable. I've even dropped one straight on the micro-B end while charging and no issues after I bent the end back.

    • If they are failing within 6 months, can't you go back to the seller to ask for replacement/refund?

    • Same experience here, so I bought 2.

      The head bends quite easily.

    • +1

Im not sure its the cable or brand - since USB began, I've never had a problem with any USB A,B or C ends .. but most high use Micro & Lightning plugs fail me regardless of brand within 12-18mths. A-C & C-C cables seem to last forever.

    • I've had 2 cables go bad within around 3 months, but I've also got a cable that's lasted over 3 years and is still working to this day. Maybe there's some luck factor involved. (In total I have purchased 5 cables)

  • +1

Beware of stock/shipping issues with this company. They keep telling you they will get stock in X days. Last order, I had to use PayPal escalation to sort things out.

    • +2

Agreed. Same experience here. I like a bargain, but if I haven't had satisfaction within 2 contacts, I won't ever buy from a company again. It's the only way to force them into acting in good faith (if we all did it). Centrecom screwed me over an $8 USB drive (2x promising a refund as their records showed it wasn't sent) so my household have spent thousands of dollars on items since where they were the cheapest, and we pay more elsewhere. They probably don't care because too many people shop by price first instead of rewarding businesses that do the right thing, but I get a self-righteous glow each time, so …all good!

  • is this OK to use for with an oculus ?

    • too short

    • Charging, yes. I've used mine for standing play as well once when I forgot to charge the headset though it isn't ideal.

    • Most likely won't be able to use it for Oculus Link if that's what you're after.

  • I must be lucky as I've not had an issue with this seller for time of delivery, cost, or lost packages etc. I also have had some of these cables for years with regular to occasional use and they all hold up and still going strong. I don't see any fragile points for breaking and the braiding is strong and even. The plugs are also well-built and no obvious weak points.

  • +1

Cheers OP, was hanging for some new 2m cables. great timing :)

  • Safe to replace this from apple’s MBP charger?

  • Just what I needed. Thank you

  • +2

For those who have issues with charge cables wearing out quickly I suggest any name brand dell,hp,Lenovo usb c laptop chargers. Big and bulky with the power brick but they are built to last.

  • +1

It has been a week and they still haven't dispatched it…
    What takes them so long?

  • Has anyone actually received the cable?
Mine is not yet dispatched still.

  • I came here to see if anyone actually received the cable? My order status is still Paid. No progress as of today.

  • Still nothing for me either, going to ask paypal for a refund

    • +1

Just received the notification that its shipped today.

  • I got mine a few days ago, nice cable
