Noctua NH-P1 Passive CPU Cooler $149 + Delivery ($0 MEL/SYD C&C) @ Scorptec

180

The NH-P1 is Noctua’s first passive CPU cooler and has been custom-designed for fanless operation from the ground up: in enclosures with good natural convection,
its six heatpipes and thick, widely spaced heatsink fins enable it to cool modern high-end CPUs with low to moderate heat dissipation completely passively.

I've wanted passive cooling for my Jonsbo UMX3 Silver (Window version) htpc build; case in question is probably a heat trap and a mistake for this heatsink, but I can leave the window off to feed convection and be a sight to behold - hopefully not flames!

By the way, for 12th gen Intel socket LGA1700, we might need new mounting bracket if it isn't recent stock of this cooler.

      "LGA1700 (included since Q4 2021, older coolers require NM-i17xx-MP83)"

You'll end up compensating with case fans instead with that case.

      • +1

Noctua send you free mounting kits for all their coolers, no need to buy

I know it would completely defeats the original purpose, but I wonder how well will this do with a Noctua A15 fan strapped onto it, lol.

    • It's been done, I think maybe in the Gamers Nexus review of it? It certainly cools a lot better than the passive alone

      • i think he's itchy to know if this P1 trumps over the big D15

        • +4

Nah, the fin density is wrong for active cooling. While it benefits from air actively flowing through, it's not going to beat something like the D15

Will this fit in my Intel NUC?

    • +41

Your Intel NUC will fit on this yes.

      • +1

Lmao! I can just see someone trying this!! Ouch… my back hurts now.

    • +3

Yes, your Intel Nuc can 'Fit Inside' this.

Who needs a case, this is a work of art.

  • +1

Very surprised this doesn't need additional support… Even still, the reviews are very positive if used as designed (ie no O/C on passive).

I’m using a 860g hr-02 macho (funny name), in a Silverstone case with a front 180mm fan. Luckily the case has a support built in, cause that’s heavy enough!

    This thing last a lifetime

6 year warranty, but I cant imagine what could fail

      • Liquid in the heat sink.

        • no idea why someone would neg that, the copper pipes generally have liquid in them for heat tranfer, if they pop/blow/get pierced then they are multitudes less efficient.

Your mainboard to having 1.2kg strapped to it

Can’t say enough good things about noctua. Have a nh-c12p for 10 years in continuous use, fan is still silent. And has gone through 4 different cpu/mobo combos, noctua sending out a mounting adapter for free when I’ve needed it.

  • I would still put a fan on it running super low rpm.

the inertia of this much weight with such small anchor points, you’d want to be gentle moving your PC

    • What! no more swinging my pc around and chucking it in the boot?

  • Weighs about the same as the NH-D15, so not a revolutionary amount of weight to drop on a CPU socket. But always be gentle moving your PC.

  • The sheer bonkers look of a raspberry pi strapped to this thing would be hilarious.
