Personal Experience with Clippedassist

Hi everyone,

I think you guys probably see me a few times already. After getting my new car, I managed to stupidly scratch it to a pillar in the car park just after one week. Went to a reputable smash repair (only one so far as I went to tint my windows and got recommended to that business) and they quoted $900 as they have to repaint the whole rear bumper. I then got another quote from Clippedassist.com.au for only $360, very tempting.

Has anyone here used their service at all? Only 14 reviews on Google so if none here uses them, I might just give them a pass.

The damaged side has several long and short scratches, the typical damage done when you reverse the bump into a wall and scratch it. Not really visible but everytime I see it i remember how dumb I was, and my OCD keeps kicking in so I'd try to get it fixed up if the cost is not too great (less than 500).

Thanks you all for reading.

p/s: Went to Oztint as one of the guy on here recommended, the product (Rayno Phantom S9) quality is unknown since it was done today, will need time to find out. However their services and explaination was amazing. Was such a good and detailed explaination that I felt I had to give them the sweets I bought for myself. Just incase someone wonders.

The first scratch is always painful then it gets easier for the second and third till you get to a point where you don't really care anymore.

If you can barely see it, then leave it alone and spend the several hundreds on something else to treat yourself or save it up for rainy future. You'll pick up tons and tons of scratches and bumps and dents and rock-chips all around bodywork as well as wheel scrapes and side mirror scratches over time.

It's normal and you're not going to spend $500-1000 every time fixing them. Or at least, you shouldn't. Especially on a Mazda.

  • When people buy cars they clearly can't drive …

Put $500 in a bank account or etc or whatever.
Every time you see the barely visible scratch, go look at the $ and think how smart you were not to waste $ on a barely visible scratch that is likely going to be the first of many :)

So you damaged someones property and are complaining about the price to repair your own car?

      1. a shopping center car park, and hell the thing didn't bend for 1mm FYI, only my car did
      2. I surely whined in the post but that was about how dumb I was, not the price
        thanks

It looks like Clippedassist hasn't been in business very long, they seem to be a cross between an insurance company and a bodyworks… It's an odd service, they sell a subscription for frequent crashers to get cheap repairs, lol

I suspect you'll get what you pay for, a $360 repair is likely to be half-arsed compared to a $900 repair…

    • 360$ repair for a scratch probably means that the repairer is going to wet sand the scratched area, prime it, paint it and clear coat it to top it off. I assume they would blend it in as well. 900$ on the other hand probably includes taking the whole panel out and painting the entire panel which I really doubt is something that's worth it considering it's just a scratch. 360$ in no way means half-arsed, just doing the essential bits to get it looking not like a scratch.
