I'm trying to find a flight combination from Melbourne that would retail for more than $375. Most of my flight dates and destinations can be purchased through Virgin for less than $280.
Does anyone have any tips or stories of how they've been able to maximise this perk?
Yep absolutely, and there's a wide gap between the lowest value and highest value you can get from that!

There are plenty of destinations for which you could exceed that value.
@GG57: The post was geared towards those with experience using this perk. It came across that were more interested in pointing out the flaws in my ask and quoting the T&Cs from the website then actually helping.
So, you would go someone that you don't want to go, just to "save" 30 bucks or so? Seems nonsensical.

Furthest you can go from Melbourne is he Sunshine Coast. I was hoping for Cairns or Perth to be an option.
For obvious reasons it's designed to not be loss making for Amex/Virgin so I'm starting to doubt if there are many scenarios where you can "get your money back" for it.
Fly to somewhere in WA way north of Perth like:

Exmouth
Onslow
Karartha
Broome
Derby
It depends on what you want to do when you get there and be very careful with the weather condition as they can vary allot from one season to another. In summer temps can get to 40 to 45 in Karatha, but in Winter are very nice.
I do not have any idea when the wales visit the WA coast.

No many options to exceed $375 unless you want to fly during a high demand period. You can select a "choice" fare too I believe which will include baggage.
