Diablo 3 $59 USD from Blizzard

260

For anyone who didn't manage to pick up a Diablo 3 CD key or can't find one in store, there is a work-around to purchase the game from Blizzard at $59 USD as opposed to $79 for the AUD key.

What you need to do is have a battle.net AUS account already set up and call the Australian Blizzard contact number
1-800-041-378.

Once you call through to the operator tell them you have trouble purchasing the game on your computer and would like them to put it through for you.
Make sure you ask them to buy the game for you, not add a credit card to your account.

They will then charge you the $59 USD and you need to make payment using your credit card.

Cheaper than buying CD keys and you're guaranteed to get it as opposed to it being sold out in retail stores.

Be aware that the opening hours for the contact center are 19:30 - 14:00 AEST, 7 days a week

  • 19:30 - 14:00 AEST, what time is that?

    • 2:00pm - 7:30pm??

    • 7:30 PM - 2 PM Australian Eastern Savings Time

    • So reading that it sounds like they're open through the night for Aus callers

    • -2

      that is 7.30pm - 2pm AEST…..does that make any sense? Should be 07:30 - 14:00 AEST OP?

  • Would it work if we submitted an online ticket instead of calling?

    • +2

Nope.. The idea here is that you get put through to the US call center, because the AU one is closed. Submitting a ticket would just send it to the AU staff, and they'd answer it when they opened.

      • There's no AU blizzard staff. All calls get forwarded to EU or US

  • -3

Is this really a bargain? That's the RRP of all US games. That would only be a bargain if you were buying it at that price from a local, since AU charges up to 100% more at RRP for video games. If you're going to be from the US, either boxed or digital for $59, there's no real saving.

    • +1

it's a bargain because us Aussies get shafted when it comes to games

    • +4

I fail to see your point.

So if Dell US and Dell AU sold the exact same computer
      US - $1100 (rrp $1100)
      AU - $1200 (rrp $1400)

You can get the US for $100 cheaper, delivered, with full working warranty. Are you saying it's still not a bargain because its sale is based on their rrp?

A bargain here is when you buy the same product for the lowest price possible.. haggle it down, price match it or import it from Alaska. The lowest price is the bargain.

Theres just no logic to your post.

No need to call the Customer service centre if you don't already have a battle.net account.
All you need to do is to setup a US battle.net account and you will be able to purchase the US $59 Diablo 3.

    • did this and managed to get everything up and running within the hour. 7 gigs! Had to throw in a fake US address though

      • This deal is good if you already have a battle.net account say if you ever played WoW or Starcraft and already registered with an AU address.

  • +1

I think this is a bargain because all the cd key websites and retail stores are all sold out

  • +1

Thanks for not posting this in the morning.
Purchased for $79.95 just before lunch :(

    • ditto.
      /angry
although a bit weary of this method, any potential problems?

      • Worst thing that could happen is they put it through for $79.95 :)

  • Isn't this risky? As you are creating a US account, it is difficult/impossible to validate your account in case it gets hacked?

    • +1

No, sorry I wasnt very clear, you create a AUS account and then you call through and they just purchase it for the US price.

AU games use US servers regardless so there wouldnt be a problem anyway.

      • That's not quite true, you can choose to play on different server farms (US, Europe, South East Asia)

Same price as DSE or Big W. Not a bargain

    • +1

      all sold out pretty much…
never really could get one near my house
so i think it's pretty good

and actually this one would be more expensive as USD is higher then AUD now

    • +1

depends if DSE or BigW has stock mate, apparently they dont, so the bargain still stands.

  • +2

Doesn't work - tried to call them just then.

    Paid $79.95 =(

But it was worth the try! LoLs.

(I think the dead giveaway for me was I have a .com.au email address… the guy was like… "… ur from Australia aye?")

  • Dick Smith is selling this for $59 right now… Marion SA

    • Now is Low Stock
      It may Sold out…

  • Only Dick smith Renmark have stock

  • Another method is to sign up a new US battle.net account - using a US address (Just use an address generator).

That was how I got it for $59.99 on release.

    • same here… thats what I did a week ago: created a US bnet account, purchased online for $59USD used an Australian paypal account to pay. As soon as I paid the game was listed in my bnet account. I was up & playing under 1 hour (after downloading all the install stuff)

One thing I would recommend is to use some kind of authenticator on your bnet account - whether you purchase this way or not

buy dragons dogma instead. WAY more fun. Diablo3; felt like its missed the mark.

  • Try cd-pay.com they are legit from Europe though. I think its 50 euros but the earliest they can give you is on the 29 may

    • +1

For those wondering, 50 euros is $63.86 AUD with the current exchange rate.

  • Wouldn't most sites price match with local store prices?
MightyApe gave me it for $58 (I think) which was BigW's price
Only downside is the delivery time I guess

  • I signed up for a new Battle.net account and put in a US address. It allowed me to purchase online for US$59. Didn't need phone calls etc.

  • does any 1 have a guest pass they could share ? i want to try the game befre i decide to buy Thanks

  • Dick Smith price has jumped up to $69 now. Still no stock for Brisbane/Gold Coast. Big W and Harvey Normans website have no mention at all of Diablo 3. Guessing they aren't going to restock or don't have timeframe when more stock will arrive? JB seems to be the place to get it from at the moment if people are after Aus version for $69.

JB sells it for $69 and has 9 in stock. no pickup though, but they are pretty quick anyway

should've bought it when it was $59 (full key + guest pass)
