Yeah, $160ish isn't a great price. If you keep an eye on retailers like The Iconic, Anaconda, Rushfaster and Wildearth you can grab one that's around $120 - $150.
The North Face is too trendy these days, so I don't wear anymore .. similar to SuperDry .. I was once cool wearing SuperDry in the early days but now it is too popular.
So what do you wear?
Very good question .. I'm a bit lost the last few years .. so I don't really have favourable brands at the moment .. but agree with comment below that quality is generally (or always better) … current wardrobe is: the north face, helly hansen, nike, patagonia, uniqlo .. most recently nike and uniqlo … trying to find something a bit more alternative and cool but nothing is capturing my heart .. mammut or arcteryx? .. had a small phase of fjall raven and haglofs.
When you get older you'll realise that people don't actually care whether you wear 'cool' brands or not. The main benefit is that these more expensive brands tend to produce better quality clothing.

No no you see it must be black in color with white logo. I work in the city and the amount of clowns that wear north face and tell people "yeah haha I got it for hiking" -_- no Sandra it's the same as when you put on active wear but havnt stepped in a gym your entire life. Also similar to people that wear Timbaland boots and pretend they look like construction workers.
