But seriously, just show them the proof of purchase on your debit / credit card, that will suffice as proof of purchase

This is only if the goods are damaged / not fit for purpose. Change of mind is usually up to the store policy.
The decision about whether to refund/exchange/credit is obviously up to the store discretion, but the card/account statement is still a legitimate device for proof of payment.
Did you use your Myer One when you made the purchase? If so that should be kept on your account.

So how long ago did you purchase it?
Store credit at current price i.e. if it has gone down in price since you bought it it will be the currently listed price.
Seems easy to abuse to get cheap store credit if that's true, buy things when they're marked down and return when they're at RRP. Then buy more discounted things with the store credit and return it again.
Rinse and repeat until you're a Myer credit millionaire.

Myer is very good with returns never had an issue with them retuning anything in store, always accommodating and offer cash refund or exchange
How would they know you paid $1 or $1000 or even if you stole the item?
What happened when you called them and asked them ?
Sorry for not being clear. I purchased 3 non-iron dress pants from Myers about 90 days ago. I used 2 of them are were horrible (just hanging like a skirt) even after ironing and stopped using them. I have the one unused brand new with all the tags and I want to return it even for store credit as it's not non-iron as advertised. I should be to find the receipt and definitely have the credit card statement.
Probably would have returned it in time if he called them in the first place, why is so hard to just call a store lol
