Moving Apartments - Can I Buy Amazon Boxes?

I'm moving apartments and urgently need moving boxes - wondering if there's a place where I can buy amazon boxes/if there's a cheap item to get larger boxes. Would be great to hear some experiences with this stuff.

wondering if there's a place where I can buy amazon boxes/if there's a cheap item to get larger boxes

You’re going to buy something cheap but large from Amazon to get a flimsy box? Amazon boxes are more environmentally friendly now and not as strong as they used to be.

Get down to Kennards, Storage King or somewhere similar for boxes.

Bunnings have free boxes by the checkouts, but they’re not large. They also sell moving boxes.

  • Some moving companies give you boxes/baskets. I think a friend bought some from Aus post or somewhere tbh.
Personally I hit up liquor/grocery stores for unused beer boxes and the like for sending out and I think the grocery store freshfood section used to have foam boxes for cold stuff.
Re amazon though, I've been buying toilet paper which was cheap and come in a huge box. Also Pepsi cans were good too, I just been drinking them through and keeping all their boxes.

Officeworks have them too I think.

Or just go behind your closest DFO and get some from the recycle bins.

  • If you want flimsy boxes go to Bunnings and buy the cheap boxes. They will hopefully last one move.

You can always use google and find a place you can pick them up tomorrow.
    Or try gumtree.

The best value is Kennards Jumbo Box Heavy Duty for $5.10 each if you buy 10+

Storage king is a ripoff of immense proportion.

    • Best value are second hand misc boxes from a second hand box dealer.

  • Head to your local Domino’s we usually have a lot of boxes so they might have a few spare to give you.

Search for moving boxes on marketplace, they pop up all the time in my area.

Did this last time I moved. People were getting rid of lots of moving boxes at once.

Go to a storage place and buy boxes. They’re a lot sturdier than ones from Bunnings, and because they’re all uniform, they’re a lot easier to stack. Label boxes on multiple sides too

  • Dependent on the size of boxes you want we get freebie ones from the cardboard bin outside the My Pet Warehouse near us. We ask first.

Go to your local neighbourhood/good karma/buy swap sell Facebook page. Every second day there’s someone trying to offload a bunch of moving boxes for free.

With my luck on Amazon if you buy an SD card, M&Ms or a paperback it will come in a box the size of a beer slab.

I got a single watch from Amazon back in 2013, it came in a hardcase for storing 3 watches (about the size you might use for storing 2 handguns with padding) and the hardcase was inside a bigger cardboard box enough for 2x 24 can beer slabs. No wonder the world is melting.

Hand on your OzBargain licence. You should not be buying boxes.

Last time I moved I found a local shop had a sign for free boxes. So I raided their recycle bin and got a heap.

Then after the move I advertised on our company trading page and gave hem all to the next person.

  • Ask a warehouse nearby, for a large retailer like gg,jb, hn,dm bl etc that you need some boxes for moving. Offer them 10 to 20$, which hopefully then can accept discretly. Some sites however have a card board crusher.

    • They may be able to put some aside if you ask.
