Best Affordable Inkjet to Replace Duplex Canon MX926 - Budget $300

I am looking for a worthy replacement for my old trusty Canon MX926 duplex colour inkjet.

Requirements are duplex adf scanning and duplex printing, and importantly cheap replacement generic inks as the mx926 has on offer via eBay.

Any suggestions from owners of suitable units are really appreciated. I have a budget of around $300 or so.

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Look into Epson EcoTanks. I got a cheaper non duplex model and it's been great. I've had it for 6 months and we print heapssss of colour prints and it still hasn't run out. The print quality is pretty good too.

  • Another vote for EcoTanks…

I have had the ET-2750 for about 3 years now and still going strong… Print heaps and a $17 bottle per colour lasts > 1 year.

I've kept my old Epson for duplex scanning, but if the 2750 dies, would not hesitate to upgrade to a duplex scanning ecotank.

  • Sounds good! I do want duplex printing and scanning in one unit however, and don't print heaps. The mx926 has been great for many years but has started printing blurred blacks despite soaking the head and calibration.

    • Did you washed the head with warm tap water ? Take the head out and clean it .

      • Yep, i did a thorough job till no ink came through it

    • This is my problem too. I don't print heaps. So I have to keep throwing away inkjet printers that are perfectly good mechanically because the heads are clogged because I haven't printed for a while. The latest that is bricked is an Epson WF-2860. And a laser printer isn't a solution because a colour multi-function laser costs so much more to buy that it ends up costing just as much per page printed. And something like an Epson EcoTank is exactly the opposite to what I need because it has the high cost of a laser AND an inkjet's problem of head clogging.

Sometimes there are good discounts from Epson https://www.epson.com.au/shoponline/shop/BrowseProducts.asp?…

Though the last few that have been sold online did not have a duplex scanner < $300
The ADF on the EcoTanks seem to be more single sided scanning

While EcoTanks are cost effective, the print quality not as good and well quite expensive for what they are. Look at the specs this is not an opinion.
I always have used 3rd party inks, they can be cheap-as chips.
I did try an ET but didn't realise the $400 printer I ordered didn't have duplex, and and replaced with a 7840 (A3). I still have an old Epson 3640 running strong, so I am a bit bias.

My printers were all from the Epson Refurb store. Mine were original packaging, no marks.

    Consider WF-3820 ($114 delivered)

Ink will be the 812XL which a set of 4 can be found on ebay for ~ $60 or if you prefer a premium store, consider RIHAC $80 for a set of 4.

But really if you go with Brother, Cannon, Epson or HP you will find cheap available 3rd party Inks. Find a model you like then search for ink.
