Dick Smith - Console Games (PS3, Wii, DS, Xbox360, etc) $2 Selected Stores (NSW Only?)

80

I was in Dick Smith (Warringah Mall NSW) today and they were getting rid of their older stock of games. I bought 24 of them for $2 each ($48 which was less than the normal price for some of them). Worth checking out your local Dick Smith to see if they have something similar. Wasn't just games, but other things too - like Memorex 2 pack controllers (can't remember if they were Xbox or PS3). I also snagged a couple of 3DS games as well - not sure if they were supposed to be there as they are new release, but were still $2.

Note - they didn't scan at $2, but were in a bunch of 'clearance' boxes and marked down at the register.

    What games?

could you mention a few games so we get the idea?

OK, here are some I got:

PS3 - Driver San Francisco, Sonic Generations
XBox360 - The Black Eyed Peas Experience, Band Hero, Medal of Honour Limited Ed
Wii - The Last Air Bender, Wii Music, Guitar Hero Aerosmith
NDS - Rabbids Go Home, Jewel Quest, Guitar Hero on Tour (incl guitar grip, etc)
    DS3 - MarioKart 7, Lego Harry Potter

I mainly got kids games as my kids use them more than me. There were other games like FIFA, fighting games and lots of pets, singing and sims games. They were older games not new release (eg FIFA 2011).

  • PS3 - Driver San Francisco, Sonic Generations

Will definitely grab these if I see them below 10 hmm.

  • Went to dse robina and no games were that cheap or on special really

    • It may just be that store, could be others, or it could be the start of a trend to clear out the last of the old stock. Worth popping into your local store anyway. I also had a look at the Hornsby store as I was near there, and they didn't have it. Nowdays I always pop into Dick Smith if I'm nearby. Got myself a bunch of $2 Memorex Wii remotes & nunchucks last week from there too (were ~$50 on the shelf but scanned $2).

  • DS had 15% off apple laptops today in VIC

  • Anybody know if they will be available tomorrow (sunday)? Wouldn't mind checking out whats left.

  • Amazing how they still had those in stock seeing as their older games were "all sold out" in store and on-line…

  • you got mario kart 7 for 3ds for $2??

  • No stock will probably come down to the same blame game that it is DSE staff hording sale items.

  • Scan receipt please?

Don't know where to upload photo, so used tinypic. Recept below. You are a cynical bunch aren't you :)

    • Didn't scan games individually - just counted them and entered one line.

  • my guess is that store is closing down. I doubt this will be aus wide, but still can anyone confirm?

    • This store isn't closing down - is a very busy store (also not listed as the closing down stores)

  • This is too weird. Those games aren't even that old.

    Thanks for sharing though, syba.

  • i am skeptical that you got mariokart7 for $2 .. will check my 4 local dick smiths to see if its true as i didnt see any games in the $2 bin not that i was looking but i did checkout the 3ds games and none were on sale.

The 3DS games probably weren't supposed to be $2. I can post a picture of it if you want, but all of the games either have no price tag or the original $40-$90 price tags on them - I will then be told I didn't pay $2 for them. I'm not trying to trick anyone (what's the point of that). Am just trying to help some fellow Ozbargainers out in case other stores do the same.

      • So how were they marked? Were they just regular games but in a clearance area that said "everything $2?"?

  • +1

Its not a bargain for anyone else imo
Someone messed up big time at your store. None of the local stores here heard anything about these prices.
Lucky you, your got an awesome deal.
but its not a bargain for bargain hunters.

    • i kinda agree, seems like a one off thats why i mentioned is it closing down

      • Warringah Mall DES store is one of the large major ones, so not closing down. The two smaller ones 10 mins away either side are closing down. You can see which stores are closing down when you do a check store stock search on there web site.

The only $2 titlss left were all the old unknown pc and budget titles. The ones nobody has ever heard of or wants to play. The ones you see at every retail store in the bargain bin.

    • The $2 games weren't a mess up (the 3DS inclusion most likely was). When I talked to the staff they said in their meeting that morning they were told they were clearing out all the older console games for $2 (I guess so everyone knew about it and was no hassles at the register). I thought since they had a meeting about it other stores may have had the same (or may do the same soon?) It doesn't look like it though….
