So some grey/white streaks are appearing in my hair, specially on the sides as I march towards 50. My hair is dark colour, towards black being of Indian origin.
What is the simplest product/method to apply a bit of dye at home. Something less chemically strong to avoid damaging the hair.

It is a greater artifice to let people see grey hair and think you're older than you actually are, whereas dying your hair back to its natural colour is more of a truthful representation of relatively youthful self.
Just don't use the same brand of dye the barber in that scene used; it was dripping down his face by the end of the movie which made him look like a desperate old man trying to look young.
Eh, I'm mid-30s and got some greys coming through but people still assume I'm in my twenties. Also if you're 50 I don't think hair dye will wind the clock back much, getting fit and in shape will do more to make you appear youthful.
Stay natural, it will look better. I've been going grey since I was 27, I'm 40 now. I believe it makes me look more mature :)
Looking that mature in your 20s isn't always a good thing.

If a male has grey hair it's "distinguished" if a female has grey hair she's a "hag". Male hair cuts are cheap. Female hair cuts are expensive. But then amongst males younger hair is perceived to be more employable and successful. Society is so unfair. Break with convention, be outrageous, dye your hair green or shave your head.

Embrace aging. I feel like I can tell when someone dyes their hair black, has a weird shine to it. The salt and pepper look is sexy anyway bro.
