Hipages has been a tragic fail. I've tried for literally 5 jobs in last year and all the quotes are higher than what I find through my connection
Hipages are just for tradies to pick and choose. If you have no idea they'd come and give you an outrageous quote. If they get a whiff you know what it should cost tradies will stay away.
If you got a 2x3m space and depending on difficulty might be easier to do it yourself. Just got to take some time to plan it out.
I would only use Hipages as last resort. They have fees and charge the tradies for every single lead and they are not cheap, plus there are tons of tyre kickers around so they just factor the cost of these onto your quote.
Try your local community group on Facebook for recommendations - although 99% of the content on there is trash and narcissists pushing their own agenda, I did find a good decking guy to do my back deck in mod wood about 5 years ago. Best price and very good finish I felt. Most importantly actually followed through with messages, phone calls and prompt quoting unlike the SEVEN mobs we tried before that from googling lol
search for a carpenter purchase your timber boards and get it delivered before hand. They whoever it is usually take a small cut from it for their effort to source the boards
I would suggest you post on hipages.com.au rather than OzBargain. You are going to have more luck there I think.
