    Watchnerd's thoughts?

    • I'm keen to hear his thoughts too!! @WatchNerd we need your opinion!

      • +1

I haven't bought this brand so can't comment.

The other option in this price range on Aliexpress is the Steeldive SD1970.

  • +3

probably a better buy than the $380 omega swatch colab

this watch is a copy of the Speedy with a japanese seiko movt.

they actually went the extra mile with sapphire glass

    • -2

I'd rather the swatch watch than some random Speedmaster copy. Each to their own I suppose.

      • +1

If you could somehow get hold of one?

    • +1

The sapphire has no AR and it's mirror-like, but it's also on a $117 watch - so expectations.

  • +3

    RRP AU$818.63 LOL

PD is a great brand for inspired pieces. I own their Sub, Datejust and Daytona versions.

    Some thoughts on their moonwatch:

    1. VK63 Meca-Quartz is a reliable movement. You won't find a decent mechanical movement for this price point.
    2. Sapphire is pretty standard for PD's range of watches and is always welcomed. Lack of AR coating isn't a dealbreaker for this price, but worth considering.
    3. Heaps better value than the Swatch. This one can actually be serviced!
    4. 316L stainless steel is pretty common for this price point, 940L is more common on higher-end watches due to it's difficulty to manufacture.

Genuine question, why is there so much hate for the swatch collaboration?
I'm a bit of a space nerd so kind of excited to see them in person.

      • +1

It cheapens the Omega brand, which the Swatch company owns. It's a cash grab. You either like, loath or don't care what others think. They are not very good 'value' though.

      • +1

that one eh, you are paying $300-$400 retail for a plastic watch - almost like a toy. And people are reselling it for thousands $

  • +3

    Are you following JOMW? :)

    • +4

Not sure why you were negged for asking a question, have an upvote.

Yes he does great watch reviews.

  • +1

My Pagani chrono was cheaply made junk. Hands fell off and subdial didn’t work. Got a refund. Never again. Don’t believe everything these YouTube watch guys say, they are clearly getting kickbacks.

Get the Fossil decker if you want a decent quality moon watch homage from a known brand.

As far as I know, Jody is pretty upfront with his disclosures. The only real incentive they receive is a free watch and affiliate code.

QC can be hit or miss, but I guess I’ve been lucky with the several I’ve purchased.

    • Must have been a pretty old one or a lemon, Always buy from the Pagani design official store.
Can't go too wrong these days with the Seiko movements and quality parts for the price.

    • nice work on the neg.
so what year did you get your pagani?
Just saying they have probably improved a lot in the most recent years. I've got the PD daytona and the PD-1694 with new improved lume and great quality 5-link bracelet and milled clasp, recommend the vintage fauxtina colour.

Why are you promoting fake watches?

    • +5

this is a homage/clone, a fake one would copy the brand name as well.
Pagani design is known to make these type of watches

      • +1

An homage merely takes inspiration from something; this is simply a slavish copy.

    • I believe the term is homage.
Yes it replicates almost all of it but they don't chuck the brand on it.
I agree its a fine line but yeah i wouldn't say its a fake.

      • -1

Call it whatever you want. A copy / homage / clone. It's a rip off of another company's design.

        • If you want a fake you'd go somewhere like here

          Now thats a replica/fake
Some of them are more than $1000 usd

        • When a Chinese car manufacturer builds a car that looks 99% like a Range Rover but puts a different badge on it, we rightly call it a fake.

But when they do it to a watch, we're apparently supposed to call it an "homage". Strange.

@boozed: Difference is usually 100x the price for these watched

  • About the only Pagani I can afford

  • +1

I'm looking at the gmt reps which look the goods.

  • +2

If you want a legit moonwatch, get the Bulova Lunar Pilot. Can be had for around $400-$500 from starbuy.

Fantastic watch with an amazing history.

    • Very nice watch. I'd like to see it in person and maybe get it in black

      • +2

The silver model is on sale today at Starbuy - Bulova Lunar Pilot 96A225 $399

        • +1

          Nice
I bought the black one yesterday.

          • +2

@SummerZero: Received my black version yesterday, absolutely love it. Will never sell.

Ignore all the comments on size issues, I was expecting a behemoth. My wrist runs just over 6.5" and looks perfect.

            • +1

@illz: Completely agree. A good looking watch with an interesting backstory.
Mine arrived next day, great service from starbuy.
I ordered a nato strap for it but doubt I'll be swapping it over

            • +2

@illz: similar, best fitting watch. Pays to know as my 43.5mm Oris with rubber strap looks a lot to big in comparison and doesn't sit half as nicely.
(braclet is ok but pretty chunky. Their new smaller size cailbre 400 would suit me better).

            • @illz: Give this a go,
Set the big chrono second hand to sit at 6, looks great.

    • +1

Yes the Lunar Pilot is a very nice watch, pretty big watch though, very glad I own one.
Picked it up on sale at Star Buy for $399.

I've also ordered one of these Paganis as well.

    • As someone who owns the Bulova and the Pagani "Daytona" (which uses a similar movement), I think that there's room for both.
The Bulova looks like it's worth a lot more than it's RRP, while the Pagani's have great specs for the money, without the stress of repair/replacement if it's damaged; a great-looking everyday watch.
Ultimately I've stopped wearing the Pagani watches I own because they're homages, and I just felt a bit awkward wearing them.

      • +1

The the Seiko vk63 movement is pretty good, nice having one or two quartz in the collection (g- shocks included).

Don't think I'll buy any more Rolex homages, but the Dayton does look a lot more experienced than it is and gets a few comments/ looks. Easy in rotation for a beater without worrying about it

I'm probably more interested in high quality microbrands next that are original enough but still tick all the boxes.

  • Wait, is it Pagain or Pagani? Does Horacio own this brand?

    • Pagani Design…. it was a typo. :-)

  • +2

The case is actually 42mm and the bezel is 40mm - so it wears like a 40mm in reality.
