Got this bad boy almost a month ago for $590 and ozb called me crazy. Good chance it’ll go under $550 though.

  • Still $500 plus postage on ebay with over an hour to go.
    Jeez.

  • Is there a brand that is meant to be better than the others for the 6700 XT or does it not matter?

    • +1

Sapphire makes top shelf Radeon GPUs,

    • ASRock use to be part of ASUS, they are a good brand for AMD cards.

    HODL.

This deal is worse than the other one anw.

WOW.. that image of GPU's just sitting outside like that is nuts… if it started raining … oh boy
I'll upgrade to a 6700XT if the price drops to around $400

      • +2

I was going to say sub $500 but I like your number better.

      • I dont think they will go that low. GPU companies will stop selling before dropping prices too low.

        • +3

Production numbers are inflexible. GPU companies have realised they are going to be losing money on sales, they just want to recuperate as much of their costs as possible.
Also, there is at least $15 billion dollars worth of GPUs that have been sold to mining farms that will now be making their way to the second hand market. This GPU crash is going to make the previous one look insignificant.

          • @iseeyou1312: I hope you are right, but I can see companies pulling an apple and just destrying the old models.

            • +1

@PlagueistheCheap: Apple can afford to do that because their profit margins are so ludicrously high, thus the stock costs them very little. GPUs are rather expensive to make and they usually operate on small margins, they don't have the luxury of being able to liquidate old merchandise.
Also, Nvidia and AMD aren't going to care about buying back old stock, because their next generation (Lovelace, RNDA3) are looking at doubling performance over Ampere and RNDA2. Their solution to drive future sales is to make the current product obsolete. This is especially important for the commercial market, where they make most of their profit anyway (outside of mining booms).
Apple on the other hand, basically releases the same phone every year with the most marginal tweaks. So old stock is in direct competition with their newer models. Apple is more of a lifestyle company than an actual tech company, as their phone and computer products don't compete on price to performance with the rest of the market, it's their brand image that primarily drives sales for them.

@iseeyou1312: $400 is mt price for a NEW 670pxt :).. im in no rush at my 6600 8gb runs everything i play at 1440p maxed out fine for now

I don't think miners have any morals. If it rains they'll just let them dry for a few days before powering them on. Corrosion won't appear untill well after they've sold them.

      • -1

Rain is good for electronics if they're powered off

        • -1

          Rust is not

          • @vid_ghost: I said rain. Rust comes from oxygen in the air. You reckon air is bad?

"And this, Children, is how "near-new" GPUs are born…"

  • This seems to have slightly better performance than the 3060 Ti, if anybody is curious (plus more ram), though raytracing won't perform as well (not sure how much stuff actually uses it), and the Geforce would have DLSS, but AFAIK you don't really want to use DLSS at the resolutions these cards run at.

    There's a few charts here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCMjyAPTKt0&t=4m56s

    • +1

Is faster at 1080p, same at 1440p, slower at 4k.

The 3060 Ti is the stronger GPU, but AMD is better at pushing out more frames at lower quality settings and lower resolutions, because RDNA2 is less taxing on CPUs and thus extends CPU bottlenecks. The 3060 Ti wins in scenarios where you run into GPU bottlenecks (ultra quality, higher resolutions).

      • Hrm the first video showed it being slightly better than the 3060 Ti at 4k at medium settings, but since it's an average of 50 games it could just come down to that. The vid you linked is good too, showing the difference per individual games.

        • Well, it's using medium, not ultra settings (favours AMD) and it's only using a 6 game average so that they can quickly benchmark all the GPUs. It's also only 65 vs 64 frames, which is pretty much a tie. The 50 game benchmarks are for making a more accurate comparison between two GPUs.

      • I keep jumping sides of the fence… it's tiring.
Just finished reading about SAM benefits for the first time (I'm VERY out of the loop).

Irony: I see raytracing being pointless, and I'm chasing huge RAM.. as that's what I've lost on current & previous generations… But FarCry6's crazy requirements seem to be twisting my view (playing at the moment). It all goes in circles.

  • Can anyone recommend a good GPU for crypto mining?

Haven't crunched the numbers yet, but wouldn't mind a recommendation.

    • +2

None at the moment unless you want to hold the coin and hope
      3070 best all round

      • +2

Nope, 3070 has the same hashrate as the 3060 Ti. It's actually probably the worst Nvidia GPU for crypto mining.

    • +2

This is the hashrate for all GPUs.

3080 Ti, 3080, 3070 Ti, 3060 Ti and 3060 would be the best ones, depending on the price you can get them for. The 6600 also isn't too bad when it's around $300, but otherwise best to avoid AMD GPUs.

But all cards really have a payback time for 2-3 years, so unless you're very bullish on Ethereum prices, and expect the merge to be delayed for a very long time, it's best to not start mining.

Also, GPU prices are falling much faster than the amount of crypto you can mine on them, and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. So really, if you think Ethereum is going to go up, it make sense to just keep buying Ethereum. Mining is only going to lose you money.

    • +2

crypto looks actually ded this time, not going to be like previous cycles… not for many many years anyway

    • +1

Elec prices are too high and ETH is too lower.. also ETH will change to staking at some point its too risky now

  • +2
    • I wouldn't trust Gigabyte with video cards. Asrock are solid brand for cards.

    • +2

How has this not been listed as a deal yet? $600 for a 6700XT Gigabyte OC is a hell of a deal.

  • I sold my 5600XT for this price a year ago

  • +1

can someone please recommend me a good GPU for fast video processing

    • +1

Anything Nvidia from the 3000 series, 3050 should be fine for 4k footage.

      • +1

        Thank you. Appreciate the help

        • AMD will be improving encosing with RDNA3 coming out end of year if you wanted something from AMD
