Today I spent at least 2+ hours sitting on the phone waiting to reach ING support to get help with my account. Tried calling 3 times at different times during the day and still couldn't get hold of anyone, waiting 30-40 mins each time. Is this normal? Does anyone have any trick to reach them? I just have a simple query with my account that I need support on, but this experience is putting a bad taste in my mouth

Yup I actually called my HSBC account after this and they accepted in under 3 minutes. Just the ING savings account looks so good right now!
Banks seem to be getting slammed lately. Virgin took me 55 minutes, ING took me about 35 mins. It gives me reason to fold my washing and dust :-)
I called them 3 years ago and they answered straight away.
with ING you can ask them through the banking app, there is mail system that goes to the admin/staff
Login app > top left > 3 strips > messages > bottom left > right a message > from there you can reach 15 departments
This^
I messaged through that function and got a reply in 3 hours
ING's wait times are longer than it used to be but they should still pick up. I called them twice this week and had wait times of 20-30min.
I've probably phoned them once in 3 years so idk
Helpful, thanks

Have you ever called one of the big banks before? Have you ever called Qantas?
ING is nothing, relax.
ever called one of the big banks
Nab is usually pretty good in my experience (just not 24/7 though)
West pac is decent ish too
ING used to be great like 3 years or so back, their performance has definitely slowed down, and so have the features being offered by them. I personally never had to wait with them over like 25 mins. Back in the days it used to be like 5 mins max. Anyway I am still happy with 25 mins average compared to commonwealth bank's 1-3 hours average wait times on call (and which is not 24/7 either).
ING is hopeless. Even when they answer they tell you that they will sort out your query/request and they don't do anything.
It took them 4 months and 12 calls to open an account!!! Every time I called everything was fine with the application, but nothing happened.TradFi users should be π to know that legacy π¦ are adopting a less is a π system with 100s of π closures.
Users will be banking on devices by 2030 with most of the π closed.
Ing customer service has gone to hell.
I just have a simple query with my account that I need support on
If your query is general in nature, and not too specific to your account, ask it here - someone in this community may be able to help.
They're probably too busy sending out refund checks for all the accounts they recently closed.
called them 3 times last week to open an account. Took 50 minutes to reach someone on 3 occasions. Useless bank!
ING bank is dead, the most avoided bank of the year, they should use this slogan instead of most recommended bank of the year.
Their slogan is "do your thing" whatever that means.
Why? What happened?
Yes i rang them up a few days ago 3 times! 1st time was 1.5 hours then i hanged up . 2nd time was 1 hour and i hanged up. 3 rd time was 30minutes and got through . IT was a just a simple question i needed to know as i joined with them, that if i did pay id does it come through straight away and they said over $1000 it takes couple of business days. Well i didn't go ahead with the high transfer. I wlll wait till end of month and move all my money to citibank . Ing has crap waiting times just to ask one question. What a crap bank.
It's 9pm and I've been on hold for 45 mins. I'm trying to open an account just for their 5 fee free overseas ATM withdrawals but don't know if this is worth it. Lack of customer service is a huge deterrent!
I'm also considering UBank for their savings account - they answered the phone within a minute.
Update: It took ING over an hour and a half to answer. Ditching them.
I rang yesterday two times for a hour each and I hanged up then rang this morning after half hour they picked up . Iβm so sick of ing , such a bad service. I donβt think Iβm going to stay with them. I transferred all my money to citi and Iβm just going to leave it in there next 3 months even if ing raises their interest rate.
I rang yesterday and today four times. Was not able to get through the phone call as it kept on being busy and playing music forever. Can not believe this is a bank service.
Change banks lol to one with a branch; Iβm with HSBC and their support is great on the phone. Maybe covid took out their office or something
