For those who are looking, this is the only store I can find that has the Lego Optimus Prime in stock

Seems off topic. But yes, Optimus Prime is currently exclusive to Lego stores and Lego dot com.

So glad I already have 42125. At least now I don't have to explain to the wife where another $750 went (after just buying the bmw bike and McLaren f1 last week)

    • Genuine question. Does the pleasure come from the building/creation process?

I ask because to me the end result of Lego cars loses so much of the refinement and fluidity of the actual designs.

I used to build model kits (glue, paint etc), those are designed to look exactly like the actual product.

The pleasure comes from reselling retired sets at a huge markup >_>

        • lol I know people buy these as investments, but what about people that actually open the boxes up and do the build?

I have no issue with other lego kits, but I've never understood these car versions.

For me, definitely the building, probably much in the same way someone finds puzzles relaxing. I have more than enough parts to come up with some great designs myself, but unfortunately I am really not the creative type, so I could never pull off something that even remotely resembles a real car.

I am looking in to display boxes or a cabinet to put them all in when built, but that is likely to set me back a lot of money, and take up a lot of space.

        • I could never pull off something that even remotely resembles a real car.

kits like the OP Ferrari look to have a bunch of custom-designed parts (mirrors, wheel arches, side panels, those sexy wheels etc) though, so that helps haha

Mostly in the process of building. What the model lacks in design refinement, it makes up for in clever engineering on the inside. There is also some appreciation on how the design has been put together without too many custom parts, although this isn’t accurate for the super car technic series as there are heaps of custom moulds.

      • I have a very mechanical mind, I love to build all these lego models. Best thing is you can just pull them, apart and build something else! I also have real cars for the the asthetics of real cars :P Lego fits in the house better

  • Those wheels look great; unfortunately the rest of it looks pretty average

$400 tops for the Ferrari Daytona. I don't like the look of it

    $90 Ferrari 488 42125 come out to about $1 a sticker

  • over the past years i've been waiting for the 1:8s to hit the 400 mark; and often I've ended up buying them as (used) assembled cars, dismantling them and rebuilding them. I'm on the 3rd (Lambo) now, and feel that the underlying 'technic' is almost the same. I can't imagine i'm saying this, but i'm almost bored of it now.

When it comes to the Ferrari (to reach the $400 mark) I'm hoping the underlying technic is a bit different..
