I've just noticed these have had a substantial drop in price. Best Amazon price since last year.

I'm not sure about Ventchoice Australia but the feedback looks good.

These are great speakers, many say you would need to spend thousands for a better sound. They literally shake the walls of my old wooden house when cranked up with subwoofer worthy sound from biggish bookshelf speakers. I found the treble a bit harsh at higher volumes but backed off a couple of notches it sounds great.

They have been cheaper but not for some time.

nice, being eyeing on these for quite a while… lost passion now though…

Edifier are ok for their price, but not "audiophile."

I'd suggest a better buy would be Monitor Audio Bronze 2 for $599 (if you already have an amp). These are quite highly-regarded speakers from actual Audiophiles (and theyre a weird breed).

Your example of them "shaking the walls of your house" only tells us that they contain a powerful amp, not whether or not the speakers are actually decent or the amp is ok, and then you say the treble is harsh shrug

    • "Audiophile" is just the Amazon description. I would just say they sound great to me. I'd like to to check out those Monitor Audio Bronze 2s one day though, first I've heard of them.

Have a read of some reviews from reputable audio sites.

If you need an amp, something like this can be amazing to go with passive speakers: https://www.melbournehifi.com.au/products/pro-ject-stereo-bo…

      • I've had these for a year, I would agree that they don't sound good for a lot of music. I"M not audiophile enough to be able to explain why. Maybe it's the bass speaker having a slow response like many cheaper speakers. It creates what seems like more bass, but it's muddy. I stuck thick woolen socks in the rear ducts. This reduces the throw of the Woofer, making it notas slow and muddy, but also less bass

One song that does sound good on these speakers is "I"m afraid of Americans" by David Bowie. Play that one loud, it's like the speakers were tuned for that song.

I use these on a TV, they sound awesome to my aging ears, I'm hanging out to hear the jets in the new Top Gun movie throiugh them.

    • Do you have any issue with audio sync? (If you're using optical)

      • +1

not that i've noticed. I do have it connected to the tv via optical.

        • Interesting - good to hear too - I used to use the s1000db with my tv and always had issues with audio delay. It might have just been my old tv though (~7-8yr old LG)

@DeToxin: I have these on a Samsung tv about a year old, no audi sync issues.

  • I use that for my desktop…

You can currently get Edifier Airpulse A100 for $730 through eBay at moment too

    • are they great for the price?

      • Their RRP is the same, they go on sale less and depending on your preference you might find them better than the S3000 Pro

  • These are a great pair of speaker, especially for the price. Just keep the size in mind. I foolishly ordered these when they first came out without looking at the dimensions and was surprised by how large they were.

    i have these, amazing speakers
i tried to post a link for the stands that go with these but that comment was blocked for spam
the stands are 150 on amazon + free shipping (which is needed because i think the stands come in close to 20kg iirc)

  • Do these have an option to stream via wifi, because Bluetooth streaming is crap

    • No. Just BT. However I hook up a chromecast audio to mine via line in as an alternative option.

  • Own these with the stands beside my TV unit. They sound amazing. Don't need a Sub really. There is plenty of bass here. As mentioned they are BIG.

I wanted to move away from a makeshift hifi setup with a receiver I got for free, 2.1 system I got from garage sale for 50 and 80 for the centre used. Too much clutter and wiring. This just works. Is simple. Clean.

No audio sync issues though have had the odd 'loss' between the wireless connection but it's never been an actual problem.

3 nitpicks to be aware of. 1 - volume resets everytime you turn it off/on and it resets LOUD, can surprise you. 2 - the led screen is tiny and unreadable from a distance. Fine if using at computer but at a few metres it's just too small. 3 - the remote is pretty average and no back light and the text is very light so hard to read at night/in the dark. Though you get used to the placements of things.

Amazing set though. Especially for music. Will blow your socks off. (a comment above stated they're not good for music. But let's be clear - they sound great and 'fun' for music. They're NOT studio monitors and they're NOT flat. But they are a great sounding set)

Consider the S2000MKIII though for desktop use. Probably all you'd need. (if my audioengine a5+ ever die on my desktop these will be my next set).

Trust me, any 2.0 bookshelf setup needs a sub. I have a more expensive setup and a sub made a big difference. You won't know what you are missing out on until you test it with a sub

      • +1

I've had a good sub setup before. I know the sub bass you really want will be missing but it's just not needed for most use cases…

They're perfect as is for anyone in say a unit or shared complex. (I'm in a villa complex myself)

If you're setting up a proper system for movies or whatever, sure. But if you are. You won't be looking at these speakers in the first place..

  • My quick and cheap setup consists of these components: Pair of Concept 1, a Klipsch sub and a $70 Fosi Audio BL20C mini amp. I wasn't expecting much but the sound that came out just simply blew me out of this world.
