Remote Control Plane FX635 - RC Toy Made out of Durable EPP Foam, with 2.4GHz Transmitter $39.99 Delivered @ eBay kalo5827

101

Was: $54.33, now the FX635 RC airplane is $39.99 (delivered).
The EPP foam can withstand some crashes and it's kind of soft and doesn't cause a lot of damage. So it's a great toy for kids. You get the complete set, ready to fly, with a transmitter, a battery for the plane and a charging cable. Only 2 AA batteries are required additionally for the transmitter.

The steering works with the proportion of the power that's given to the left and right motor. More power also will make the plane climb while less power will cause it to sink.

This will never fly. You'd need at least 3 channels to control a fixed wing.

“This isn't flying, it's falling with style”

but it will look good on my shelf alongside my brand-new-in-pack eneloops

    • Yeah what are they doing to make this work? Muxing the two flaps over one channel? I mean either that or it's flying landfill. Probably flying landfill either way…

      • It doesn't have any flaps or control surfaces - read the main post again, it explains exactly how it works 🤷🏼‍♂️

        • Oh. Lol I clearly read that post too fast. Controlling pitch/roll/throttle with the same mechanism is going to be nightmarish, if even possible?

          • @incipient: Well it sounds easy enough, go faster to pitch up, go slower to pitch down, and more left or right throttle to turn right or left.
I imagine it takes some practice 😁😁😁

You'd need at least 3 channels to control a fixed wing

Rubbish. In a plane with proper control surfaces, channel 1 = elevators, channel 2 = ailerons. You can mechanically couple the rudder to the ailerons, but it isn't necessary. Or you can connect channel 2 to the rudder only, but it doesn't turn as easily as ailerons alone, unless your rudder is oversize.

A third channel for throttle is nice to have, but not necessary. Many enthusiasts only land when fuel runs out, and the motor runs at full speed until then.

Not really, 2 of them are coupled. It will fly since you wont really use rudder control

    • It will fly - and reasonably well within an indoor basketball court. The plane has "push back double power" or put simply, two propellers that push the plane forward. Each channel controls one propellor. Skid steer for polystyrene.

Yesterday, I bought a pack of darts for an old man. Until then, he was scraping the dregs from a handful collected from the gutter, and painfully extracting the unburnt slithers of gold to roll his own. That was similar money better spent.

    • You can control an aerodynamically stable plane using only thrust and yaw. Lift is directly proportional to thrust if you're stable, so you control your rate of climb by controlling your thrust (like normal) - so you have control in 3 axes, just two of them are related (thrust axis and climb axis). Yaw is controlled using the differential in thrust on the two propellors. You'd want the plane to be inherently stable with pendulum stability or dihedral on the wings. This looks like it has a low centre of gravity relative to its centre of lift, giving it pendulum stability.

Sometimes with 2 channel control you can even get some roll by yawing hard, causing the outer wing to move faster than the inner wing, producing more lift and rolling the plane - but I doubt you'd get much on this plane.

2 channel control works. It's not particularly fun to fly, but you can fly.

  • Not sure this is a good deal. Compare this post to the first result I get on when I search for ‘rc plane’ on AliExpress.

    • Still need to add GST to that. Just saying.

  • I’m buying this just so I can put it in the veggie scraps bin

  • Both cheaper elsewhere and a fake bargain.

  • Looks like landfill

  • does this fly as Top Gun! :-))
