Do These Discounted Apple Gift Cards Work Online to Purchase Apple Care?

Hi,

I want to get Apple Care for my phone, and was looking around the Wiki page here (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards) for discounted Apple gift cards.
In the comments section for Apple gift cards, it says "Apple gift cards can be used to pay for AppleCare+ in-person at the Apple Store, but may or may not be able to be used to pay for AppleCare+ online or as a subscription tied to an Apple account."

Can anyone confirm they successfully used these online for a discount with Apple? Will be really helpful.

    You can ONLY use it for monthly Apple Care payments

    Also word of warning, never change your region on the apple store (for example to download different apps etc) or your AppleCare+ membership if monthly will be cancelled and you won't be able to get it back.

    Why monthly you ask? Well if you upgrade at different intervals it helps to be able to cancel the applecare so you aren't paying more than you need to. Alternatively, if you keep your phone longer, you can keep applecare longer than the standard pay in full time.

    As others have mentioned they can only be used for monthly Applecare+ Payments online.

    Personally I buy the 2 years upfront with a discount at Apple Stores, then continue with monthly payments if I still have the device.

    So it can’t be used for the 2 year upfront payment?
    How do you get a discount at the Apple store for the annual payment?

    I manage to do it buying AppleCare for a new MacBook Pro which was purchased from a retailer, not Apple.
    Was a difficult process. I needed to go into a store. Best not to add to your AppleID account (which made things more difficult).
    At the end of the day, the (always helpful) Apple staff used my gift voucher (which I had loaded to my appleID) to buy AirPods, then returned them for a gift voucher, which could be used to pay for AppleCare.
