I'm looking to sign up for a Telstra plan that comes with the $800 JB HI-FI gift card, however don't have anything I want/ need to buy, not sure if you are able to sell the cards, would there be any good items to buy and resell to try and keep as much of the $800 as possible?

You can sell it, but it'll probably be at a 10% discount, so $720 for you. There will be some out there who will try to scam you out of it. If you do decide to sell it, do it through cash on pickup if it's a physical gift card or PayPal. Since you're selling, you collect the payment first then you send them the code. Been quite a few instances where the seller is coerced into giving them the code first and then the buyer doesn't end up actually paying.

It won't be a problem if you are at the store with them and go to the cashier, you hand over the card, the cashier confirms the value, the person buying it grin you hands you the cash and then gives their items to the cashier to complete their purchase. A bit of time for you but worth it to not be scammed.
Feel so lucky i never got ripped on this because i definitely did sell some jb cards back in the day to some relatively new members, but luckily they always panned out _
This. Any time I've sold a giftcard I take the cash then stand there while they confirm the balance after I have cash in hand. Lowest risk to me, lower risk to them.
I never buy giftcards online for that reason, it's far too easy to get screwed and it's not worth the 5% I might save over buying them through a portal instead.
Just hold on to it until you need/want something from JB.
I held on to mine for a few years and eventually used it when the time came.
Hah I am in the same boat, $500 only though. Was thinking xbox series x but 1) been ages since i seen a jb with stock ready to go without a pre-order and 2) i think id be happier with the $500 card sitting there for a what-if scenario LOL
If you don't actually want anything from JBhifi consider whether the card is actually "value" or a "deal"
give to me is the best way to use it from mpov
Buy a PS5 and sell it for $1000 cash :D
Dash cams or security cams for your house if you don't have them already (for yourself)
Or sell the card locally & meet at jb hi fi so that the buyer can see the card works
