Best Bang for Minimum Spend Promo at Woolworths?

We've been spending quite a bit on groceries lately and this week Woolies hit us with a big promotion.

Boost now to collect up to 22,000 points on $750 spend

  • Spend $250 in Week 1 for 6600 Points. (Immediate reward ~$33 value)

  • Spend $250 in Week 2 for 6600 Points. (Immediate reward ~$33 value)

  • Spend $250 in Week 3 for 8800 Points. (Immediate reward ~$44 value)

Like I mentioned, we've been spending quite a bit because we're just finished the last promo which was $220 per week for 3 weeks and were rewarded with 20,000 points - As a result, we've got $660+ worth of inventory in our home now (I suppose we paid $100 less in points)

I feel like i'm on a slippery slope now because this is a $750 spend for $110 worth of points and i'm so keen to hit the targets but not sure what to buy anymore — but I can't turn down a 15% discount!

I'm not looking to spend for the heck of it, so we've got a heap of Toilet Paper, Paper Towels, and Facial Tissues.

Is there any advice for a young family on cost effective things to buy?

P.S. We also loaded up on 50% vitamins when they had a 5x off the total shop bonus 2 weeks ago, so ended up with even more points than originally expected throughout the last promotion.

P.P.S I don't think Gift Cards and other cash equivalents are eligible.

P.P.P.S I've got a bucket load of 7.5% Coles Mastercards that were converted to WW cards via NRMA too… ~11% off face value!

  • If you have multiple rewards cards then use another one for a while, they might drop the min spend

Multiple cards … Don't keep chasing or they'll just keep raising the bar.

    Look at alternating with Coles/flybuys

Stock up on canned foods, half price laundry liquid etc..

Big money saving tip: Don't waste money on vitamins unless diagnosed as deficient by a qualified medical practitioner, following pathology tests.
If you are taking water soluble vitamins, you are most likely urinating them out, unless you are deficient.

The water-soluble vitamins include ascorbic acid (vitamin C), thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and pyridoxamine), folacin, vitamin B12, biotin, and pantothenic acid.

    • Agreed mate, it was mostly vitamin c and gummies for the toddler though. She gets sick a lot at daycare.

Child care is a petri dish, vitamin c + gummies wouldn't cut it, as the kiddie get older, it be less frequent.

        • also the winter makes it even worse.

  • Nappies, frozen food, boxes of soft drink, printer paper, stationery, phone charging cord

    • Too true! Nappies and wet wipes will be good since we’re expecting

      • laundry powder too! baby clothes needs lots of washing

        • and Sard.

  • think back in 2020 what did we horde….

  • I got
    Week 1 Spend $50 Get 1200 points ($6)

    Week 2
    Spend $50 Get 1200 points ($6)

    Week 3
    Spend $50 Unlock 1800 points ($9)

Honestly I wont even spend $0.01 on transaction at woolies with ED rewards card.

I got spend $50 get 3100 points ($15.50). One week only. 31% may do it but usually get better at Coles.

      • I honestly get at max like 5x bonus points thats max I get at flybuys, even though i have coles financial services.
Flybuys never really been that good for me

    20%-, ignore for sure!

The bonus points you are receiving for your high spend work out at 14.7%. This is quite low, in my opinion. I usually get between 25 and 30% at Woolies and 35 to 40% at Coles. The bonuses are proportionally higher if you keep your spend to lower amounts and perhaps do 2 or 3 offers per week if you need to make large shops. I agree with randomusername2017 go to Coles and Aldi and get multiple accounts. I get better and more frequent offers at Coles but also shop at Woolies. It does also depend on how much time you have to devote to this. A common saying is you will have to spend time or money.

    • We usually do a full shop online. I feel like best bang would be to skip woolies altogether and shop at ALDI.. but the delivery is so convenient!

best to step up a woolies account for the wife and newborn

then cycle between the accounts, the offers gets better when u dont use the account

    Lettuce.

  • You have no friends and/or family that you could offer to buy in bulk for?

    • What would you offer to buy in bulk thats worthwhile?

      • How about do their whole shop for them - deliver it to them as payment for your points. Win/win

        • maybe i can offer to scan my card to strangers at the checkouts?

          • @nomster: Maybe not but if your offer can be done in more than one shop and you have the time you can look for abandoned receipts and if a flybuys card has not been used you can claim the points in store. I often see receipts for hundreds of $$ just left sitting in trolleys.
