Been a while since I've seen a decent deal on Lagavulin 16. This is not too bad.

Probably the best tasting notes I've read for a decent Islay scotch.
I have similar feelings for Caol Ila.
Caol Ila 12 is a good alternative to laga 16 for me if you like the slightly more iodine profile. Just as good for me.
You’ve tried the Ardbeg Corryvreckan by any chance?
Going by your analogy, that would the burning tree.I have not, but if it tastes like fire and brimstone I am in - I much prefer it to the more medicine-y/iodine flavoured whiskys, anything other than an isla these days tastes like lolly water I've destroyed my tastebuds with it's deliciousness (and i'd do it again lol)
You forgot to mention someone throwing a bucket of iodine in your mouth to extinguish the smoke.
Nah I don't get that from Lagavulin 16, unlike Laphroig
Although good, I wouldn’t say it’s anywhere near the best islay at all. It’s mostly just famous. Most will try it and not like it, or it will be their gateway onto better islay whiskies.
What would you say is better?
Octomore if you love smoke. Bowmore 18 and 21 has much more flavour and complexity in addition to peat.
Special edition Ardberg. There’s sooooo many whiskies man.
I didn't say the best ever, just the best I've had! I'm always open to try a new isla
I actually found it as one of my favourites before finding out its "famous". Everything itsHughesy described on taste is on point and the reason why this just hits so good
It really hits a need in my soul for the same reasons I described, close friends, it's a cool night but the bonfire is enough, we get he salt spray from time to time the warmth of the spirit, the smoke and peat - to me it just hits perfect on every level
I'd disagree. If someone doesn't like this it won't be a gateway to any other Islay!
Read my post. I said they will either not like it, OR it will be a gateway.
What whisky would you recommend for a beginner whisky drinker? I’ve tried a few and haven’t really enjoyed them. Perhaps I’m drinking the wrong ones.
I know 2/10ths stuff all about whisky, I'm a pleb, but I'd suggest Glenfiddich 12, easy drinking and consistently good as a entry level whisky
Can't go wrong with Glenmorangie The Lasanta 12. A beautiful scotch, no burn or iodine taste, slight sweet start to finish.
unpeated - glendronach 12, balvenie 12
peated - ledaig 10, talisker 10
Not a great price
Facts. It's inflation and economy affecting everything
$103 or less :)
That's it, $100 is a fair price~~~
Used to be $79 or no Deal.
Nothing like a glass of this to go with my Porterhouse, T-bone, and Cigar.
Ah yes, just how I like them. Scottish and barely legal.
XD
I haven’t bought this for a year or so, but good price used to be under $90 easily.
$84 was the price in the olden days
I want to buy this but price not low enough. I've got an unopened bottle of Laga 16 still in the cupboard and just finishing the remnants of my opened bottle. I can wait for a better price (if it comes).
If you have stock then definitely wait for ~100 price point. I haven't had it for few months so this was a good enough price to grab a couple of bottles to attend my thirst with :)
I just checked, last time I bought was almost 12 months ago. From Boozebud eBay @ $103. Looks like I go through 1 bottle of Laga 16 every 12 months (alongside my other whiskeys). So this is only ~$6 more than last year, a given the worldwide inflation at the moment, its not a bad price. So tempted to buy.
Wished mine lasted 12 months. I like it so much it barely lasts 2 weeks …lol
@marantz: How come people can keep a bottle for 1 year? Drinking twice a week is my pattern.
@CyberMurning: Must have strong discipline not to drink it? I'm a bad collector but a very good consumer of whisky 😅
@marantz: Nah, just get more bottles mate. then they last a lot longer. Think I have ~60. Just buy more and drink the same as normal. You always have a good range then.
@marantz: There are cheaper ways to satisfy that addiction
Have not bought it since the $80 days
@nubzy: Wow - $79.92 on 16/06/2020!!
Me too :(
Given inflation, I doubt it'll ever be cheaper than ~$100-$110 again.
Ron Swanson would like one. Please and thank you.
With all the massive cash-backs at First Choice & Liquorland almost every week, this isn't a deal I'd jump on.
So yeah, today $108 delivered at First Choice. (after $30 Shopback cashback).
Unfortunately every Boozebud deal is a waste of time if you live outside metro areas.
This used to greatly annoy me, however I've found they free-post via ebay (at least to Toowoomba).
I live 12km from the second largest city in WA and they won't ship to me. Via ebay or the website.
Similar situation here - their ebay account used to send to me now won't. I'm not in the middle of nowhere either
Good deal. Bought one. Cheers
Wow this got expensive
Hmm instead of "Buy it now" it says "Buy another". And at the top it says "You've purchased more than one of these items"
And I have indeed bought another.
DAMMIT. It looks like it sold out :(
Really disappointing! One Swanson comment, maybe 2, considering the T-bone one, in 50 comments. Parks and rec anoraks are a dying breed :(
thank you for the third. I was hoping to find more too!
Hands down my favourite whisky that I've ever tasted, be warned though usually I'd only suggest someone trying it if they are a seasoned whisky drinker, a good isla scotch is like being hit in the mouth with a burning tree branch on a beach at night next to a bonfire, in the most delicious way possible!
