New Washing Machine, How's This Bosch?

So my washing machine has bits of plastic coming out in the drum after every wash. It's also making loud noise when spinning. Yesterday the drum was also filled with smoke. I think it's time to get a new machine.

Just want to know if this https://www.eands.com.au/bosch-wan24121au-8kg-front-load-was…

Is any good or shall I look for a different brand.

Edit : found 2 other models of similar capacity

https://www.eands.com.au/bosch-waw28460au-8kg-front-load-was…

https://www.eands.com.au/bosch-wga244u0au-9kg-front-load-was…

The above two are made in Germany and Turkey respectively. Not sure about the first one.

The main difference seems to be the spin speed 1200 rpm vs 1400 rpm and the water inlet. The first one says hot or cold and the last two are cold only.

Any suggestions? It's so confusing. Although one of them is over $1K, but I do t mind spending that amount if the machine is reliable.

I bought a Chinese made Bosch and it's been fantastic.
    Great washers.

  • Pretty good price on the 28460. $1140 on the good guys commercial website. I've been looking at those ones as well as the 9kg similar ones made in Germany. Hoping for an EOFY sale but nothing yet. Last year there were EOFY and new financial year sales.

My Chinese Bosch is reliable and i use it every day. But it has cracked on the top and Bosch support couldn’t care less.

  • My first front loader Bosch lasted ~15 years, only thing I had to replace was motor brushes once and the door seal once. Both DIY able with some youtube.

Was still working when I sold it off cheap on gumtree, and it was replaced with a bigger Bosch from this deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/414840)

German made Bosch is a pretty safe front loader choice IMO

I bought a Ukrainian Bosch and was pleasantly surprised. While I'm still in the red, it's robust and flows well.

  • Been using a German made Bosch Serie 6 8KG front loader for the last 3.5 years. Almost 1 full wash every 2 days in Winter and 1 full wash every day in Summer. Not a single problem.

  • Our 17 year old F&P failed last weekend, would normally fix myself, but thought 17 years was good enough after a couple of small repairs along the way.
Purchased this based on reviews and the short steam refresh option. And the sharp price, I got them down to $859 and delivery was yesterday and painless.

I know its not made in NZ, but figured Thailand would be better quality than China, but you just cant tell.

    • I’ve got a recent F&P top loader (2018) and wouldn’t recommend. It needed a service shortly after delivery because the washer kept deciding that it couldn’t engage the top door lock - stopping a cycle about 5-10 mins in after it started intermittently. Now it’s started doing it again. I really don’t see why it couldn’t engage door lock the moment the cycle starts - at least I wouldn’t come back an hour later to discover the cycle never even properly started. Very sloppy design.

    • I thought F&P was under the Haier brand now. The Haier front loader I recently purchased is a rebranded F&P, made in China of course.

  • I paid extra for the GERMAN made version.

  • Thanks all. Will go with German made Bosch.

I bought a German made Bosch, it's OK, don't know what all the fuss is about.

I find it funny that people think European/German cars are overpriced and prone to breakdowns, but when it comes to washing machines/dishwashers, German made Bosch/Miele is almost the holy grail.

  • For me, if im buying a Premium brand, German or US etc , i want it to be made in that Country.

  • I brought a Electrolux for $900 odd was great while it lasted which is just over 2 years, the guy from Electrolux came out and charged $155 to say its stuffed and cant be fixed, so much for the 10 year warranty which turns out only covers certain parts. Never again, cheap chinese or expensive germans
