I guess some are fed up of these requests by now, but it is EOFY after all, so looking for some thoughts / opinions on which option may suit better. I'm sure either would work well and I've Googled ad nauseam yet still so indecisive.
No gaming, mainly internet and office programmes, so could presumably manage fine with r5. Prefer touchscreen, 14", 16:10 or 3:2 format. Reasonable battery life preferred, but usually have access to power.
1) Lenovo Ideapad slim 5 pro, Ryzen 7 (5800u), 16gb / 512gb. $1200
2) Microsoft Surface laptop 4, r5 (4680u), 16gb / 256gb $1400
3) Anything else I should consider?
Numbers suggests the Lenovo (better CPU, larger SSD, cheaper and evidently a very good price compared to shop) may be the way to go, or am I neglecting something?
Appreciate any input / real world experience.
The LG Gram EVO 14" WUXGA is also a worthy contender, but I think I would rather choose the Ideapad over the LG. It's non-touch.
MS surface laptop 4 has a nice build quality, and aesthetics to match but it's core specs are a little lacking.
HP Spectre X360 14 is simply too pricey. Very nice laptop and ticks all the boxes you want - lightweight, premium build quality and convertible into a tablet form factor, but not something I would ever buy since it retails for at least $3000
Not much else in the sub $1.5k category, unless you want to explore some refurbished options from Dell's outlet or look at the 20% off Dell XPS sale
Dell updated their XPS 13 lines to 16:10 edge-to-edge displays a few years ago.
