Disney+ has launched in Turkey for TL350 (~au30)/yr
I got it working using a convoluted method. (Note, local Turkish phone# isn't require)
You need and Android Phone AND a PC running BlueStacks.
- Android device
- weVPN android app (free 7 day trial, via IAP, don't forget to cancel, which you can do immediately). I have had some luck with Nord, so it worth a try. Ivacy doesn't & PIA didn't for me either.
- Windows with BlueStacks 5 (Android emulator)
- Credit card (used 28 degrees)
Here's what I did
You need to follow all the steps for both Android Device and PC. Just using an Android device won't work.
Android Device
- created a new Google account, set the location to Turkey (used a fake address & phone# of some random hotel in Istanbul)
- Added my 28 degrees to my Google account, using the fake Turkish address, but my real Oz mobile. Note I had several checks (SMS's from both Google & 28 degrees).
Then
PC
- Installed BlueStacks 5.0
- Setup using the new Turkish Google account
- Installed WeVPN (the 7 day free trial is via IAP, so you need to cancel the subscription, which you can do immediately otherwise you'll be charged $us75). Or Try another VPN. To test it out, open the Chrome app and goto disneyplus.com if it redirects you to www.disneyplus.com/en-tr (you can see the Turkish pricing), then you're in luck. If it goes to Oz/etc or you get a blank page, you're VPN isn't working.
- Launch WeVPN and connect to Turkey
- Install Disney Plus from the Play Store
- Create a Disney account. I'm not sure if you can use your old account or not I created a new one to be safe.
- You should get an offer (possibly in Turkish) for 349.90TR,. click in this to subscribe (via Google Pay/Playstore). If you get an offer for $119.95, then it (your VPN) has failed. You need to uninstall Disney+ and try again with another VPN.
- Setup one profile.
Then you should get emails from Google, Disney, etc then I was good to go on my TV app.
No VPN required after activation. Full local content available.(i.e. Oz content if it thinks you're in Oz, US content if it thinks you're in the US).
Good luck!
Seems like there's going to be a random two-storey apartment in Turkey with 10,000 OzBargainers living at the same address. Nice find, OP!
