Is Galaxy Watch 4 Battery Really That Bad?

Thinking of buying one to replace my mi band 6. But seen many reports that the battery life is poor and frequently overheats even on the 46mm version.

I'm not interested in turning on any fancy features like AOD. Just want for clock, nfc, spotify, sleep and step tracking.

Any of you guys own this watch and how much battery life do you get?

Unless you want to charge it every 1-1.5 days with that amount of usage you are suggesting just stick with your mi band 6.
I have one and I primarily just use it for notifcations and get just over 2 days max.

  • Depends what you have switched on apart from bluetooth if you switch on for example 4G yes you'll barely get a day out of it well worst scenario of course depends how long your calls are etc, but there are solutions like always having car charger in car one example another taking a portable battery pack with ya

Just bluetooth on my Watch4 classic 46mm lasts easily a whole day

Previous Watch4 44mm non classic the same no issues all day with BT only, of course smaller the Watch4 smaller the battery

Of course through BT staying on a call all day ain't going to help battery life either

You can have wifi on also but the watch4 will only use wifi when needed or should I say have wifi on when needed

Overall I'm happy with my 46mm Watch4 classic battery life though currently I'm only using bluetooth and charge it nightly like all my Samsung Note mobiles

Also to mention great integration with my Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra with widgets and software and the Watch4 is now WearOS over previous Tizen OS

I'm sure any brand watch were one is using 4G connection would have similar battery life issues, like above person mentioned using it for on bluetooth for notifications, occasional short calls, sms etc you will get a day out of it no problems

Just a note either new or used newly reset, it will take a couple of days for the Watch4 to learn ones habits and battery to settle in

Edit: since you were on the subject of over heating,. an original Watch1 46mm classic I bought out of 2 and it was brand new while other was secondhand had overheating issues but after few days it seemed to sort itself out and stopped having the heating issues, all my Watch4's have had no issues at all and I've owned 2 of them now

I paid $320 including postage on eBay and was in perfect condition when bought, these Watch4 46mm classics seem to fetch a high price on eBay, dare I say I was lucky to get it at above price

    My 2 cents 👍😁

Excellent watch with good features. In saying that, I upgraded from the Galaxy watch 2. I get about 1.5-2 days out of mine. I do have everything turned on like Heart rate measuring and cardio/walking tracking.

  • I reckon it's fine. I put it on the charger when I have a shower and it's more or less fully charged when I'm done.

  • I have owned one for about 6 months now, it's a great watch. Takes a little bit for it to learn your usage habits and adjust it's battery optimisation, but since it has I've been able to get around 3 days out of mine, and that's using most features except the constant HR monitoring, but it will kick in if it detects me exercising automatically still. (I do have vibration disabled though because I absolutely hate the feeling)

Now that it has Google Assistant natively supported I would say it is quite easily the best Android Wear watch available. (I upgraded from the Galaxy Watch Active 2, which ran the Tizen OS)

Note: When BT is disconnected and the watch activates LTE the battery will discharge way waaay faster.

  • I had always assumed when people say crap battery life people meant like… 12 hours needs a charge. If you get more than 36 hrs comfortably out of a full featured smart watch to me it’s quite good (I have a Apple Watch series 7 45mm and charge it once a day for about 40 min).
