I believe this is the 9 1/2 Block plane from Stanley (Fully adjustable).

Googling shows a $179 RRP in prices from Sydney Shops.

I was looking for the low angle Block Plane (i.e. the 60 model) but spotted this discount and thought I should post.

Hopefully this makes someone else's day.

Probably not as good as the vintage ones, but $76.54 is pretty damn good.

  Can't remember what I paid but these are a must have IMO. Recently painted my front windows and used these to fine tune.

  Reviews suggest that the stock that Amazon gets is the bottom of the barrel.

  Some really bad reviews on amazon - poorly ground sides/base that aren't at 90 degrees to each other, thin (2mm) and not very hard blade,

    Yeah - I somewhat regret posting this now after you mentioning this. Seems to be problems with Quality Control.
    I saw 4+ stars and assumed it was going to be better than the Chinese clones.

      Yeah I saw the overall rating and was excited to buy a decent plane for a good price.

      Oh well, can't win them all

        I've done a little research and it looks like the older (better machined) Stanleys are probably still around $100 minimum on ebay, and the cheapest plane that has good workmanship (Luban/Woodriver/Quangsheng) is around $140.

        So perhaps at $76.54, it's not terrible if you wanted new, only plan to use the plane once in a while for rounding off edges, and planned to spend a day or two tuning the plane up.

        But yeah probably similar to the Groz & Faithful which are both at similar prices

  the Stanley No7 is also shipping from UK now …. ordered mine in feb and it finally shipped this month….$205 beats australian prices …. Amazon UK seems to have some great stanley plane deals.

  Stanley quality and reviews ….. they can do with some sandpaper and 10 minutes of time if you love tools, work fine out of the box, the quality of the steel seems OK from the ones I've bought, and then you aren't paying veritas prices ….

  I think better metal than vintage though the plastic handles cheapen them a bit, but then better plastic handle than broken wood handle.
