Maybe because specials don't come out on Monday… Because supermarket specials refresh very wed now…

    • +3

Supermarkets put their catalouges up on Monday's ~5pm, they are valid between the coming Wednesday and following Tuesday.

      Thanks for the list.

  • +2

isn't this a dupe post of the other 2 you posted before?

    • +2

Long conversation about this exact issue the first time mygroceries decided to run the 3 separate deals. While it does violate the rep posting terms, it seems its been allowed.

      • +3

I don't see how the OP or in fact mygroceriers are reps given that they aren't affiliated with Coles or Woollies but instead run their own blogs.

      • +17

well, the difference is mygroceries ran a full list of the discounts… and this post (and 2 before) are just half-assed attempts at trying to get people into the new website, disguised as an ad.

i don't like the way things are going, where reps play with the grey areas (and get away with it.) , it will end up with such posts relegating into the forums next time.

i'm pretty sure other OBers agree that one of the reason why such lists were voted up here because of the convenience of the front page and we can look at a complete list of offers.

        • +4

Couldn't agree more. It's sad to see that OzB seems to be okay with advertising like this.

        • +1

Agreed. I think the difference in votes indicate the communities opinion on who is doing a better job.

        • +1

          i disagree.

this post (and 2 before) are just half-assed attempts at trying to get people into the new website, disguised as an ad.

how is that different from what mygroceries does? neither links to coles or woolies but rather to their own site. it is just an ad for either site

and, to be fair, stinysydney has posted more items on sale.

to me the side-by-side comparison from either stingysydney or mygroceries seems superfluous

        • +5

          @mattgal
          distinction(s)
          1) one doesn't plug their website url for a 'full list' because if i wanted a full list, I can get one from a mygroceries post. which makes the purpose of this post irrelevant, because it would have become a forum post or deleted because it's an ad.

          2) people wanted to keep mygroceries post around because it was useful as a reference, otherwise it would have become a forum post.

          3) this has no relevance with coles/woolies argument that you put forth, because if anyone were to post a one liner "supermarket items 40% discount, please see url: xyz.com.au" that poster would have been negged to oblivion by the OBer mob.

          4) Posting a half assed effort of a list here, is preventing others from posting an actual full list, which is contentious of becoming a dupe post.

          and finally
          5) like you said, it's an ad for either site, then you would agree to points #1 and these posts should be removed. The ONLY reason mygroceries posts remained is because of points #2.

        • +2

He had only posted more items after requests to do so, instead of just requesting that we visit his new site to view the complete lists.

        • +1

how is that different from what mygroceries does? neither links to coles or woolies but rather to their own site. it is just an ad for either site

MyGroceries have always linked to the Coles or Woolies catalogues up until recently when they've started posting the Compare-a-tron specials.

        • all the mygroceries posts are signed:

"Try out our web app: http://www.MyGroceries.com.au
          Find us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MyGroceries
          Follow us on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/MyGroceriesAU"

the compare-a-thon (or whatever) posts are always linked to their own sites. both they are just promoting their own sites. i don't see one different from the other

i would rather see people posting simply to pass on good deals, not to promote their own sites or referrals etc

        • +1

          @mattgal
seriously, i don't get what is your problem. either you are choosing to ignore what i wrote, or you are not understanding the purpose of what I posted.

do you support people posting ENTIRE list of the coles/woolies discounts here or not?

if your answer is "YES", then it's a non issue about mygroceries who have been doing quite a good job about it.

if "NO", it really makes me wonder what's your agenda. Like everybody else, I want to see complete lists without having to click on links to go elsewhere to view it. That's where my 'half-assed effort' comment is referring to.

      • +1

And that is odd, given the fact that the OP is running advertising on his website…

  • yeah, you crazy donkey. Even your dates are Wed thru Tues.

  • -4

Nice website. I will be using it on a weekly basis if you update it on a weekly basis.

  • -5

This is easier to read than MyGroceries, prefer this.
