    • +2

Swap Potato and Gravy tastes weird now.

      • +1

Why, are KFC using taro in their mash now?

        • Hint of something sour. Had it twice now from my local. Called up and manager said the recipe changed.

      • Wait, shit, really?

The last time we went a week or so ago it tasted like shit to me too but I figured they were just having an off day, what's happening with the tato grave?

        • +1

The main variance depends on the drippings that have come from the previous batches from the bottom of the Pressure Cooker.

    • +6

      $22.95 now.

      • +3

        Nooooo!

      • You beat me to it.

        I'd blame the lettuce shortage.

On a side note, I just had Maccas new Crispy Chicken Pieces. Not as good as the old Southern Fried chicken from the 70s/80s. A 3 Pc Medium combo is @$14.50, where as KFC is $11.95 with Real Pepsi Max, Potato & Gravy, and a squashed bread roll.

        • +1

          I'd blame the lettuce shortage.

Lettuce is evil, they should stop using it in their chicken pieces. Not as evil as cabbage of course.

        • It's inflation, not lettuce.

    • $22.95, not $20.95. Their prices increased a couple of days ago.

    • Cheap as chips seems removed now?!

  • +35

    Not really a good deal.

  • +19

Inflation has well and truely hit KFC. In the past we have seen 10 Tenders for $10 and 24 Nuggets for $10.

Make it 40 for $20 (10 Tenders and 30 Nuggets) and you have a deal KFC

    • +6

the minimum wage increase will probably further bring prices up

      • Without doubt.

      • +3

You do know most employees at fastfood are under 21, a chunk of those are under 18.

Min wage increase barely changes the cost of wages

        • -8

Min wage increase barely changes the cost of wages

Minimum wage rates applies to ALL wage classes including juniors and that cost is passed onto the consumer causing higher prices to cover those extra costs. This then eliminates any expected benefit from the increase since your extra income is now taken away by the higher cost of things.
This is basic economics, but the Labor base seem to know very little about how that works.

          • +1

@1st-Amendment: <18 are paid something ~60% of the adult minimum wage.
18 to 21 its ~70% or may scale up from there.

I believe that's the crux of their comment i.e. minimum wage increase do not affect the typical fast food worker in full due to the usual demographic they employ.

            • -1

              @Snorkel2226:

minimum wage increase do not affect the typical fast food worker in full due to the usual demographic they employ.

Which is why they are wrong. Because ALL pay grades get a raise under minimum wages laws, so there are minimum wages for EVERY grade meaning they are affected.
So even for your $11/hour 15 year old that gets a raise to $11.50, that increase is passed on to the consumer, which also happens to be that same 15 year old who is now paying more for things. So the whole idea that a minimum wage increase makes people better off is a mug's game.

Also remember, that the teen at the front counter might only earn a 50cent pay raise, but their manger and all of head office, and all the delivery drivers, distributors, construction workers who fit out the store, all the suppliers of food, packaging, sauces, napkins, cutlery etc are all getting pay rises too. Who do you think is paying for it in the end? I'll give you a hint, it's you.

            • @Snorkel2226: Same applies to the large retailers.

          • +1

@1st-Amendment: This assumes the cost of labour makes up the total cost of a service/product - it isn't even the #1 cost in most cases. There are plenty of studies done into the "distortionary" effects of minimum wage, a 10% increase to the minimum wage does not increase cost of living by 10%. That is not to say a higher minimum wage does not increase prices - but it's far from 1:1.

As long as workers earn their current percentage of marginal product and compensation is as low of a % of total GDP as it currently is, minor minimum wage increases will never do this. Minimum wage studies do show that a higher minimum wage reduces the pool of total jobs however.

              • +3

@1st-Amendment: The world does not run off the labor theory of value… Capitalism itself is a rejection of this idea. The subjective theory of value which we all use dictates that prices are not set by labour.

To go further - capital is the productive input in the production process in modern economics. The ongoing production of wealth, productivity changes, monetary conditions, simple supply/demand and subjective theory of value are all proof that cost of living is not some simple 1:1 conversion between cost of labor and wages.

                • +1

@TrulyUnicorn: Nah don’t you remember when Woolies and Coles cut a bunch of manned checkouts for automation and the cost of goods went down?
They totally didn’t just keep prices where they were and call it a company profit, that’s not how companies work AT ALL. They HATE profits and ANY excuse they might find to gain more…

                • -1

                  @TrulyUnicorn:

The world does not run off the labor theory of value… Capitalism itself is a rejection of this idea. The subjective theory of value which we all use dictates that prices are not set by labour.

You are confusing value with cost. Value is determined by what someone is willing to pay but how much someone is willing to be paid to produce the thing you want is cost,(based on how much they value their time). Without the labour to create things you have zero things, so those two things have to meet somewhere for things to be created.
Capitalism is merely the the best attempt to create a system that best matches value and cost for the benefit of buyer and seller. It still requires labour to create 100% of everything.

capital is the productive input in the production process in modern economics.

Capital is also ultimately a product of labour. How do you think capital is created and applied if not through labour?

not some simple 1:1 conversion between cost of labor and wages.

Sure, which is why I said exactly that.

Not really that fantastic deal tbh

In the past, you can get 10 tenders for $10 and 24 nuggets for $10

In this one, you’re getting 14 nuggets lesser (deal should be 10 tenders + 24 nuggets for $20)

    • +3

lol basically what I just said above you

      • +2

        Hahaha

      • +2

        That was creepy

  • +2

Not really a deal tbh, as you said it yourself, you have received an advert and thats all it really is.

    • -1

Move to Forums as a PSA?

There is also a Popcorn Zinger Combo.

  • Not a good deal, try the cheap as chips hacks.

  • +3

I don’t get cheap as chips offered anymore. My life is over

    • +2

      Should be in Colonels Offers?
      $22.95

      • For whatever reason my local store have removed it about 2 weeks ago as I choose the next closest store and it’s there. So annoying as the next closest is too far away

    • That makes no sense. KFC is a franchise which means they all have the same items. The only two exceptions I know of are when a store runs out of an item so temporarily removes meals from the menu containing that item, until it's back in stock… and "diversity" stores where they're excused from franchisee rules that apply to every other human being because they don't eat bacon.

If the store has removed the item permanently I'd be contacting HO or KFC on facebook and asking isn't KFC a franchise, which means they supply the same product Australia-wide (when available), so why is my local store not doing this when the next store over is?

  • Seems pricey

  • +19

KFC stahp. They raised the price of the burger combo deluxe from $7.45 to $10.45 in one hit as well.

    • +5

This is the real tragedy. This was my go to order. F

    • Nooooooooo

    • Blame the Lettuce shortage.

Bugger. Double Burger combo I think has increased a few $$$.

      Also Zinger crunch combos increased?

      • Last time I got it they didn't even use lettuce.

    • +2

Yeah I'm abstaining from KFC until they bring it back. Only bogans pay full price for Kentucky fried slop :P

    • $11.45 in regional areas. Or at least in central QLD.

    • +2

That's a 40% pricerise. There goes my 5% payrise in line with CPI. I wonder if they'll sell it cheaper without Lettuce/Cabbage?

      • +4

5% pay rise….I wish…..we are being given 2.5% and the bosses are saying we should be grateful for that….meanwhile they are happy to take their mega bonuses.

      • +1

can confirm, removing lettuce from the burger in the app does not reduce price.

        • So a thin chicken slice instead of the full half breast they used to be, on sweaty bread, for more than a whole Dominos pizza. LOL.

    • NOOOO that was my regular.

Nothing else is really appealing from a value perspective anymore. ):

    • Noticed this today too. It's not a deal at all any more… my new go to is now Red Rooster.

  • +4

I'm sorry OP, but this isn't a deal. Not much value at all tbh.

      • +16

I'm sorry Jackery, but you need to go to Specsavers. Read the very first rule of the voting guidelines. It is NOT the cheapest available, and is poor value.
The very first post in this thread demonstrates that, and others posting that it is poor value only supports the point.

Your post has ZERO contribution tbh.

        • -2

Negged to hell, it’s been a while guys, thanks so much!

I read the guidelines, did you? Where can I find 10 cooked chicken tenders and 10 cooked nuggets for less? Nobody seems to have pointed that out yet… maybe some people don’t want chips or their new potato and gravy.

          Invalid use of negative vote
          No explanation of the vote:
          “Not a bargain”
          “I don't like this deal”
          “I don't think it's a good deal”

I don’t disagree with what you’re saying, it’s poor value, but it’s still an invalid negative vote.

Ps - my username is right there, at least spell it correctly…

          • -1

@jackary: All that typing, and you conveniently skipped the part where I said there's "not much value at all" as my reasoning. I didn't say any of the things you are using as examples as to why it's not valid. Zinged… again!

Oh… Google agrees with me. Jackery :).

            https://www.google.com.au/search?q=jackary&biw=2048&bih=999&…

But since you seem to love the rules, I encourage you to look at this section regarding inappropriate comments that are made specifically to incite conflict:
            https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:commenting_guidelines

You've been "negged to hell" because your comment was distasteful. But it's a good thing I have a thick skin… so no report from me ;).

Anyway, it's been fun but gotta go. Cheerio!

            • -1

@UFO: What a… weirdly childish reply. Cheerio, old chap

              • +1

@jackary: Maybe if you walked around and asked “Did somebody say KFC?” there wouldn’t be so much 2nd hand embarrassment for you and you could get some KFC?

  • +1

Looks like most the deals have increased price.

    • Looks a good reason to eat less :p

  • -1

More kfc , my big tummy says yesssss

  • +13

Not sure who is up-voting this deal? Very poor value compared to the good KFC deals like 9 original pieces for $9.95.
My view is, don't support KFC when they give us crappy deals like this, otherwise we will only get crappy deals in future :)

  • That's a solid deal , mmmmmm kfc

  • +2

why tf is kfc getting so expensive :(

    • Floods reducing lettuce crops so they have to get them further away and/or replace with cabbage from elsewhere, and the Ukraine thing (transport costs).

Note: Even though McDonalds, much bigger than KFC and therefore burning through much more lettuce, isn't replacing lettuce with cabbage… and… we only buy about 1.2% of petroleum from Ukraine-affected countries.

  • +2

    So expensive.

  • KFC's potato and gravy tastes weird, just had it recently. They must have changed ingredients due to shortage.

    • It tasted like chemicals I agree it was weird

  • +4

Not a bargain. It is a pretty ordinary deal really. It wasn't that long ago that we could get 24 nuggets for $10 and then 10 tenders for $10. Someone please help me understand otherwise.

  • +2

That is not an OzBargain worthy deal hehe

  • +4

Implying one of their flaccid, rubbery nuggets is worth $1. What a joke KFC. Get out of here.

  • +1

KFC nuggets always soggy, they taste ok, but they're never crunchy in my experience

  • +1

Bruh bring back the $10 bucket of chicken

    • Unfortunately they only do Popcorn chicken for that price in a bucket these days (every 6 months or so)

  • +1

Poor value and they hugely jacked the price of the burger deluxe combo and many other items.

  • +1

Yeah this isn't a deal OP, very poor value. Would be barely worth even with 24 nuggets IMO (given how small the tenders are).

  • It's not a great deal. But it's not bad.

  • +2

Not a great deal. 5 tenders on the app are $6.95 (done by adding 4 sides for $9.95, add 5 tenders addon, then remove the 4 sides). 10 nuggets are $8.95.

  • So expensive now. Thanks Biden.

    • LOL.

  • Expensive!

  • +1

    Meh deal.
    Bring back crispy spicy!!

    • +1

      Yessss!

  • Not cheap.

  • Us: "Not as cheap as chips."
KFC: "Want us to put up the price of chips too, so it is?"

  • thought it's 20 tenders fml

  • If it was $12 then it would be a good deal

  • Burger combo deluxe down to $8.45 from $10.45. Still an increase from $7.45 but tad more reasonable

  • Ahh they don't do 10 wicked wings anymore☹️
