Minor paint damage on wall. How to fix?

Hi..
I am planning on moving house in 6 weeks and want to fix this minor damage on the wall caused by the bed shaking violently!!! It is her fault as she was on top but she said she won’t pay for it!!

Anyway, I want to get it sorted before real estate agent sees it and asks me to have the whole apartment repainted including the ceilings.

I was hoping for a diy fix and need some guidance or if it’s too hard to hide, don’t mind getting a handyman to patch it up, but don’t know what kind of tradie would be the right one for this quick job.

Here are the photos:

If it isn’t clear, the damage is just the paint peeled off and no physical damage to the wall.

Thanks :)

Hope it was worth it. ;)

If this ends up costing me north of $30 then no.

all you need is a bit of filler and paint

    https://www.bunnings.com.au/wet-and-set-plaster-repair-127x3…

something like that, then find out the exact colour of paint that's already on the wall and paint over..

might have to sand down the wall a bit first to avoid a lump

The wall is very bumpy and as such sanding will give away that it has been repaired.

    • Sounds good. But it is the paint part than im worried about. Is it easy to match the colour? And how big of an area will I need to paint?

If it is only the paint then you need some skim coat and then paint over the top. If it is NOT"paint peeled off and no physical damage to the wall" then you will need different a different filler. If you pull the paint off and the indention is greater than 2 or 3 mm then you also damaged the plaster underneath.

    • Yeah i think a very thin layer of the plaster came off but still hanging there if that makes sense.
The second photo might explain what im trying to say better.
I think i can just stick it back with a thin layer of glue then will be left with the paint to worry about.

Assuming the wall wasnt painted in the last 6mths, even with a paint match it will never match perfectly. Paint the whole wall for the best result

    • I am after the cheapest and easiest result I can get away with. I’ll try fixing it and if it looks obvious, will hire someone to paint the wall.

clean up the damage. some plaster will come out. fill it. sand it. if the paint matches well enough you should be able to get away with touch up. at certain angles you will be able to notice it, but you can only try.

edit: I did this multiple times at a rental, and no one complained or noticed. But the paint there wasn't perfect anyway when I moved in.

    • Thanks! Will give that a go.

I really appreciate the honesty on the circumstances around how the damage was done.

I would send her a Letter of Demand for half of the cost of repairs.

Maybe she should take the bottom bunk and you take the top bunk, if she can't be trusted not to jump on it.

  • Peel off a bit more paint and take it to a paint shop (or hardware). Get them to match the colour and buy a sample pot.
