Best Value Hand Cream for Winter (below $10) for 2022

They say this winter is the coldest one in a 100 years (as they say every winter).

Is there a hand cream to prevent hand skin problems associated with the cold?

I have seen the sunscreen comparison here previously and it was very helpful.

Maybe you could offer some budget friendly options please? I prefer something non-greasy so that you can actually do something with hands without soiling everything.

I am a big fan of the QV range, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Wouldn't this be personally subjective? A hand cream that works for you isn't necessarily going to be good for me and vice versa. We're all different.

    • Not really, not unless one of us has skin problems or allergies. The previous sunscreen poll I am referring to - there was an ozbargain favourite Cancer Concil facial cream there, and I can confirm it is fantastic quality and works great for most.

    • 100% agree. Some creams work on some people and not on others. Some cause rashes on some people and not on others.

Normally the cheaper the cream the more people have issues with it, but on the flip side the very high priced creams the more chance you are getting ripped off.

I like the QV or DermaVeen creams and moisturizers. The cheapest way to buy creams is in the 1L or 1.25L sizes and then go to the $2 shops and buy a three pack of small 50ml containers for travel and fill them from the large container.

    Liquid hands at chemist warehouse.
It’s fab because it rubs in and isn’t oily.

For your requirements, Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream is your best choice ($8). Don't apply heaps, let to absorb in (5min) and you're free to use your hands.

About 2 years ago it used to be twice the weight for the same money.

    Also get Fragrance Free.

I've tried La Roche-Posay and CeraVe and both are very good, but some are twice the price for less weight, and for my skin type I didn't have an issue with any.

  • wow.. you guys moisturize ??

Yep, the skin on my hands goes really dry during the winter, and where the skin is really dry it cracks and cuts easily. Applying moisturiser once a day stops that and my hands are normal.

Yes, I needed to use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream when I was working on a UK oil platform during a North Sea winter.
You got a problem with that?

For very dry skin , try Dermal Very Dry Skin Cream , that contains urea.

Aveeno during the day because it's not sticky. Neutrogena Norweigan Formula at night because it's super moisturising.

Good old fashioned sorbelene. Little goes a long way, and great value (often get larger bottle half price making it cheaper than the smaller)

I'm a newly big fan on Dermal Therapy range including hand cream. They've done tests and publish them on their box to prove it works. Also value for money.

  • Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream is the best cream i've used in this price range. If you don't like to use hand cream because its too oily or takes too long to absorb into the skin, this is what you want.
