1.5TB LaCie USB 3.0 Hard Drive for $177 on Scoopon - is this a good product & deal?

Hey guys,

I'm not that tech savvy but wanted to get a lightweight portable hard drive in the 1-2 TB range. Saw this deal on Scoopon today and was wondering if the price ($177) is good, and also if it's a good product, if anybody has any experience? If not, if there's anyone with a suggestion of an alternative? Thanks in advance :)

    So-so price, I bought an USB 3 Seagate 1.5tb 2.5' drive for $128 last year delivered. But this obviously is a different brand with a 'design' focus.

      Yes, but not "portable" usb powered ones.

    I bought this drive recently from COTD for $179.90 delivered. If you don't care about the protective cover, you could probably find a deal on a similar hard-disk for about $150 in the next month or two, but I think this is a much better deal than you'd get by wandering into a random electronics store. For a portable I like the extra protection.

    I've started using mine an hour or two ago and it still hasn't exploded. It seems OK to me. Has a funny, and rather short, cable though.
