Quality Trailer for Interstate Move and Gardening

I've got a Subaru Outback 2015 and looking for a trailer that could carry a full sheet of plywood or be stable enough to move a load of furniture interstate. Light landscaping and gardening too.

It seems like there are so many options I don't know where to even start looking. I'm in Vic and it looks like theres a lot of competition, however all the trailers differ in some way or another. A couple of features that would be needed: cage, spare tyre, 8x5 minimum size.

Any help on where to start or good brands would be appreciated!

  • Do you really need to own one, how often do you plan to use it?

I have a small (6x4) trailer that I use for camping, furniture pick up etc. On a couple of occasions I have helped people move, I have hired a large 12x6 trailer via gumtree for $50 for the day.

I would have thought most people would only need a small (6x4) trailer for gardening, but they'd need quite a large trailer for moving furniture interstate. For an interstate move you need to move as much as possible each trip, and furniture is quite bulky. But for jobs like gardening it doesn't matter if it takes a couple of trips.

  • Go find a local seller and check out their stuff. Trailers are pretty simple and it comes down to quality of construction.

Painted steel is probably ok unless you want to use it daily and for it to last 50 years in which case the extra cost of galvanising might be worth it.
