Annoying Issue with Amazon Delivery

Hi

Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this before…..???

I ordered something from Amazon US, to be delivered to my work (as I normally do).

Tracking showed there were 2 attempts at delivery on consecutive days

"The carrier is unable to gain access to the front door to deliver the package. Please contact Amazon to provide additional delivery instructions"
This seems dodgy to me as it is a large company and reception is staffed all day

Then

"Delay in delivery due to external factors"

It has been sitting like that for a week

I contacted Amazon support and they basically said that it is lost (after 2 supposed delivery attempts??) and they can refund my money and I can order it again….. except that it is a rare item and is no longer available, and I want it.

I guess I have no other options?????

  • Use: Amazon Hub Locker

    • funny i had the same message when i delivered to an Amazon Hub Locker.
"3 delivery attempts" then sent it back.
same scenario - out of stock item.

    • I use a locker for almost all my Amazon orders, but I didn't think they accepted international orders? Or are there different sorts of lockers?

      • I dunno. I just figured lockers were lockers.

I'd imagine they would offer it as an option if available.

Had the same thing happen to me. Amazon US refunded the cost… Item showed up a few days later.

    • Freebie?

      • ;)

        • I had a similar experience with a Raspberry Pi, thru Paypal etc. After 2 or 3 months, I complained, and got my money back. A week later, it came via New Zealand.

Amazon delivery it a big hit and miss. Out of the last 4 deliveries :
1 was left in a different building foyer for anyone steal
1 was left in the front of the gararge door that was on a driveway for the apartment block
1 was left at the front door - perfect
1 was left at the bottom of the stair well

For the first two when I called Amazon and asked exactly where they were delivered I got the crap answer of wait two days and if they have not shown up we will refund the money. As such Amazon staff you speak with have no idea how to retrieve where a parcel is or where it was left.

Call them back and get a refund on the goods and search in dumb and I mean stupid areas where a delivery driver could dump it and run, also check the buildings next to yours and across the road and also check the building loading dock where big trucks deliver things. Hopefully you get the refund and then the goods get delivered in order to compensate your time and effort that you should not have had to put in to get the delivery.

  • Who’s the delivery partner? Amazon, auspost, courier, is it possible to contact them directly?

Recently on EBay with Australia post EBay customer service quoted to me that an item that hadn’t had a scan in 7 days was considered lost and they would issue a refund - (another reason not to sell on eBay)
Item did surface after 10 or so days.

I guess I have no other options?????

Your choices are 'wait' and see if it shows up

    or

Take the refund and order again if it ever comes back in stock.

    or

All the above, take the refund, and wait and see if it shows up, if not order again when it comes back in stock.

Thanks for the replies. Delivered is by Amazon.

I eventually found somewhere else to buy it so got a refund - hopefully will still show up!

I didn't know about the hub locker but will use that next time

  • I don't know about other states but here in Brisbane we have the best Amazon delivery company called Dragonfly, they even deliver on Saturday and Sunday. Was very surprised the first time I ordered something on Saturday and it arrived the next day.

We have Amazon Deliveries on Saturdays and Sundays, which I assumed was Amazon Flex?

  • I was amazed at how quick Amazon were to just offer a refund, didn't seem at all interested in looking into where my parcel was.

If I was cynical I might suggest the courier drivers know this, so don't even try and just help themselves to what they want
