Muscle Mat VS Mellow Mat

Has anyone bought the muscle mat or mellow mat? Keen to hear ozbargainers reviews on them.

Have read the reviews online but it is mix and I trust you guys more 😅

If you know any other brands that sell thick soft rug please do let me know.

Mellow mat user 2x4m, they are soft and feel nice to lay on. I would consider adding extra padding if I was planning on sleeping on it.
The muscle mat and mellow mat are identical and no doubt come from the same manufacturer, so just pick the one with the color you like

  • What an incredibly well timed thread. I'm planning to buy one today and was trying to work out the same thing.

As you say, the reviews online are very mixed. Facebook groups swear by them, people on Productreview hate them (which is typical of Productreview I guess).

Just make sure you have a look around for a discount code before buying from Neptune Blanket as you can almost always get a 30% off code. If you use Microsoft Edge browser it will search for the best discount code for you.

Edit: Just had a quick look, discount code "BEMINE" is currently giving me 30% off the Large size matt, making it $244 down from $349.

    • I found another 30% code off for Neptune "MUMSDAY" but couldn't find a code for Muscle mat. Do you know a code for Muscle mat? Looks like muscle mat has slight better reviews than Mellow but I'm pretty sure both are quite similar in "made in china" quality

      • No I didn't have any luck with Muscle mat codes. I think Noire is probably right that they're the same mat.

I actually noticed that there are some fake reviews on Productreview for Muscle mat, so I wouldn't read into that too much.
If you look towards the bottom of the reviews at this link, Steven from south east QLD and Nathan from Sydney post 2 identical reviews, word for word:

        • so which do you go for? will probably go with neptune due to 30% code

          • @ozbaragan: Yeah I just bought the Neptune one. No particular reason why, they just had the one I wanted in stock.

Thanks for the MUMSDAY code. Just bought the 2x3m.

    • Haha you are so right about Product review, I swear everyone hates every product ever made. People love to complain.

I am also trying to decide between the 2. It's a lot of money so I am thinking about it. I will update if I purchase one.

      • I ended up buying a Muscle Mat as it was more affordable. It came about 3 days ago. It had some creases when it arrived but I ironed it and it puffed up beautifully. Overall I'm very happy with it, it is great quality. It is in my living room and it feels great to walk on.

  • Absolutely love my mat from Muscle Mat. It came quick and is comfy for the kids!
I did also look at the Neptune Blanket one however the Muscle Mat was cheaper so I went with that.

  • I've had mine for a couple of weeks now. Last night I went over it with a steamer in areas that hadn't expanded yet, and it puffed up much more than expected. Even areas that I thought had already expanded 100% puffed up a bit more. So if you've got a steamer I highly recommend going over the mat with it.

  • I’d love to hear some more reviews a few months down the track from those in this thread who purchased the muscle tatami mat! Have you put a coffee table or anything on them? Would furniture sit strangely on them?

    • The quality went downhill after 8 months. L

If you add a product to muscle mat cart, bit then don't follow through, they'll send you a 10% off code.

I also let that one expire after 48hrs and just got another code for 15% off (HUNTER15)

  • Gonna bump this thread rather than start up a new one.

Anyone had experience with these recently? I'm seeing more and more options and similar companies doing same thing.

They're all no doubt the same but with different branding but deals wise seems to always be crazy mixed percentages on offer etc. my ad's are exclusively these mat's now.

Will be more for incomming little person, sound dampening in a echoey room and for loaf dog to lie down on rather than cold hard floor.

Bought the muscle mat and bought another non-branded one. I think they are the same quality. I reckon just buy anything cheaper. its basically the same thing. It does help dampening my leaving room and we find it that we are sitting on floor, on top of the mat of course, more frequently.
