I too have always wondered that. I got a laptop shipped from the UK to NSW for under 15 pounds, registered. Try that with Auspost and it'll be more than AUD50.

Things are too expensive in Ausie just because we don't have enough tight asses in here. People keep paying ridiculous prices without complain so the companies don't have to bother lowering the prices.
It was amazing how all the air lines in the world know that they should charge double when an Australian buys an air ticket. I was reading on forums that it's cheaper to book two return tickets from UK than buying one return ticket originating from Aus. We either live with too many rich people who don't care abt the price or too many idiots who don't understand that they are paying double for the same service. Hope OzBargain will one day make all Ausies think smarter and look for bargains so that those rip off prices has to come down some day.

Yep, lodged a complaint but was told paypal cant assist with this type of transaction and should contact the store.

It's not. I placed the order again in the afternoon and this time the final price stayed at 10.98. I think there was a bug earlier on where it add another 0.99 shipping fee.

the '£' symbol is the pound symbol, so I assume its not in AUD.
