  • Still no $50 voucher!!

    Reply from chat

"Originally it was 4th of July, we received an update to this offer just now. We are now sending this $50 coupon via admin email on the 6th of July."

    • Thanks for the update. Let see what happens on the 6th!

    • That's a bit rubbish. Is there something in the T&C's that says they can change the promotion at any time?

  • +5

$50 voucher received when I logged into eBay just now.

    • +1

      Got mine too. exp 30.09

    • Did you guys used that $20 link to join?

      • +1

No I dare not try that.

      • Yes, double dipped

      • Yes, can confirm I used the $20 link and also received the $50 voucher.

      • Yes worked for me.

    • -1

Where do you see the vouchers ? I had the $20 yesterday, and an item looking at now says get $50 off with Plus3737373737 code (not the exact number). Assume this is it?

Question 2 & 3 can I use the $20 and a couple of gift cards at the same time? And get cashback via shopback?

  • +2

No message but $50 appeared as a discount on an item. Good times

    • +1

Same! Had the earlier $20 one too

  • +2

Double dip worked $20 and $50 vouchers on account. Now waiting for $30 giftcard.

    • -1

Damn! I had a long conversation with customer support who said if you click the $20 link you wouldn't get the $50. Seems like they don't even know their own policy. I should have ignored them and just done both. Still haven't got the $50 either yet.

  • um… Haven't received anything yet. is it just me or I joined pretty late…

    • opt-in the $50 coupon and $30 Giftcard on 10/06 but signed up to eBay plus on 28/06. I got both the $20 voucher and $50 voucher so far.

      • um.. might need to have a chat with Ebay then. signed up on 23/06 but haven't got $50

        • signed up on 6th with $20 voucher, no $50 yet

  • Confirming I received the $20 and $50.
I didnt know about the $30 so missed out on that one.

    • How do you know about the $50 one? Is it show on your ebay summary?

      • Yup, it is showing just above the $20 one.

  • No $50 for me. Grrr typical eBay

    • Me either. I have screenshots confirming the offer and my acceptance. Guess I'll contact them tomorrow

  • Does appear like I got $50 and $20 vouchers no $30 GC as I thought

Now the question is what to BUY for $50 ?

  • Still no $50 for me, I havent used the $20 one though….Do I need to use the $20 in order to get the $50?

    • That's what I think… coz there's a sign up code in account which might stop $50 come in.
      sigh… should use it earlier.

      • Maybe thats it - I have the $20 but didnt use it yet too

        • Nah that has nothing to do with it. I still haven't used my $20 voucher and I just got the $50 one.

    • I think I have the $50, and haven't used my $20 yet.

Where do I find them? I can see a $50 off on a $250 item I'm looking at (assume this is the $50). Unless there is another deal running?

Hoping to use both$50+$20 + gift cards from shopback last week..plus shopback itself

      • +1

$50 voids the regular cashback from shopback unless its a challenge.

    • +1

      No, atleast not for me.

I got them under eBay's Summary (upper right from main page > "My eBay" dropdown > My eBay Summary).
Got the $20 with minimum $20.01 spend
Just above it is $50, no minimum spend.

When I click the "See conditions" of the $50 voucher, it shows the original T&C during the offer activation:
"Get a $50 voucher when you activate this offer & sign up to eBay Plus with an annual membership before 30 June 2022"

      • Thanks for your reply, hopefully I will get it soon. Do you think I should use my $20 first before contacting ebay?

        • +1

not really sure to be honest :(

      • Bingo..found them both there. Cheers.

But the item I was after is now out of stock :(
Got till September to use the $50. July for the $20.

    • I have used my $20 code for some bing lee c&c

      • Did you use it before you got the $50 or after?

        • +1

          Used it before July

  • Yes got both $20 (spent) and $50 vouchers.
Just Click on My eBay -> Summary to check.

  • Just had a chat with ebay and they claimed there's a bug causing the delay. The rest of voucher will be sent on 6/7/22

    • Sounds like BS excuse to get you off the call. LOL

      • Don’t care. As long as I got the voucher. LOL

    • Whats the bet that this deal is the 'bug' they are referring to

  • I dont seem to have the $50 yet

  • -2

You can't use the PLRANGE1 or SNSHOGA promo codes if you use the $50 voucher.

So if you use the $50, I you lose the normal promo $25 (based on $250 spend).

If it was a free $50 I'd understand, but to me I paid $50 and had it credited back as a voucher. Not impressed with Ebay Puss …day 1

  • Confirmed I got $50 voucher today. $20 voucher has been spent on the day I signed up eBay Plus.

  • +1

Worked for me and wasn't targeted. Need to go to my eBay summary in desktop view to check.

  • Got mine. $20+$50. Awwww yis!

    • Via email?

      • +1

No email, it just showed up in the My Ebay page coupon list

  • Why no voucher for me? I joined on 6 Jun.

    • yeah eBay strategy has definitely been join last get rewarded first
Been the case with eBay SB debacle too
      I think

    • I'm in the same boat.

      • Pinged them on chat earlier and got the same response - "technical issue, will be delivered on the 6th".

If it doesn't turn up tomorrow I'm just gonna do a chargeback.

  • +2

Turned up now in the last hour or so, seems they're processing more now.

    • Still nothing here, but will wait another day or two before I jump on support chat.

  • I got an email now.

  • Still no voucher here either, so contacted support. They now say "after 6th July" but without a date. As many others seem to be getting them will have faith that it should come soon. However, thought it may be better to contact them as it may be one of those things that won't be fixed for individual accounts until notified, given others have already gone out.

    • did the same and got the same response

      • Been told to wait for a few more days

  • +1

Feeerk. My $20 voucher expired literally while I was checking out at 8.am! Customer service clowns wont help.
Who has vouchers marked expiry 07/07 and then expires them at 8AM on the listed day?
    Ebay…

    • someone commented earlier saying that vouchers expire at same time as signup

So you must have signed up at 8 am 1 month ago

      • +1

I guess bur sheesh it sucked to have it evaporate in checkout at 8AM Lesson learned

        • Don't you get 30 days to use it? Hard to blame eBay when you let it expire.

This is also how they get you with gift cards. Shops hope you forget and let it expire. But we ozbers know better.

          • @CodeXD: Generally with a shop credit or voucher I would expect 11.59 pm on the date shown but once bitten, twice shy as they say

    • Did you want a 06/07 expiry then?

  • +4

Ebay CSR: We've recently gotten an update on the offer. Originally scheduled on July 4th, we are now sending this $50 coupon through email on July 6th. You can be certain that you will receive the voucher by email as of July 6th.

    MBix: Today is July 7th

Ebay CSR: Furthermore, you need not worry, your concern is already escalated further and is under review, be 100% assured that you will receive the voucher.

    Never change eBay!

    • That 100% assurance from any eBay CSR is worth its weight in gold.

  • +1

    Still nothing here either.. :/

  • +2

Initiated chargeback, contacted PayPal for full refund (attached all required screen shots and web chat records) and also raised a complaint with Fair Trading - strongly recommend to follow all those procedures. Ebay should be punished for such misleading and deceptive conduct

    • Double dip or?

    • +1

Well done. eBay will get a small fine. Won't bother them much, but if 1000000 people did it, will probably tickle a bit.

    • What is the misleading and deceptive conduct? T&C clearly stated the voucher would be received FROM the 4th.

      • From T&Cs: 'Voucher sent out on July 4th, expires 30/09'.

        My chat with Ebay:

        03:08:42 UTC Noses
Please be assure you will be getting the coupon in your account on 6th July via email.

        03:10:30 UTC Noses
I assure you. You will be getting the coupon in your account on 6th July via email.

        03:11:23 UTC Noses
Please be assured you would be surely getting the voucher.

        You want more evidences?

      • The T&Cs link to this offer is here: https://pages.ebay.com.au/buyer_coupons/2022/plus50annualoff…

Voucher issue. If you meet all of the Conditions set out in clause 4 above, a Voucher will be issued to your eBay account on or around 4 July 2022.

I'd say a week after is not "around" the 4th of July.

          1. Eligibility. This offer is only available to the select users who receive an email communication that contains the offer (“Eligible Users”). To successfully sign up to the offer, Eligible Users must:
*accept the offer by clicking on the 'Accept offer' button shown in the email communication OR onsite marketing homepage banner on eBay.com.au; and
*Sign up to an annual membership for eBay Plus valued at $49pa.

To be fair the above point kind of contradicts itself, however I believe if they really want to push things they could turn around and say I'm ineligible because I didn't receive an email for it, despite it appearing on the homepage banner, I'd still say we are in the "on or around" timeframe for July 4th, but it'll likely drag on into next week I have no doubt!

          • @MBix: I have a screenshot showing the offer has been applied to my account - they can't really argue with that. I've just raised a credit card dispute.

            • @gadgetguy: Oh I've got the same, I purely mean if push came to shove in terms of any real punishment for eBay they could worm their way out unless people received emails. End of the day it's dodgy AF regardless given the banner popped up and we all accepted the offer. The proof we have should suffice for credit card charge back, I'll hold out a little longer, but not at all surprised eBay screwed the pooch for a lot of people so far

    • When you say you initialed a charge back, do you mean a PayPal claim? Or literally a credit card charge back?

      • +2

A PayPal claim - will initiate a charge back later in case PayPal is not helpful

        • +1

A paypal claim will do. EBay will just cancel your ebay plus when PayPal reverses the money with no other consequences.

  • +4

    Still nothing here

    • I'd suggest talking to their chat, and maybe be prepared to dispute/request a charge back. Their system is clearly broken and if they deem you ineligible, you won't be told.

  • +1

Maybe I'm not big brained enough, but I really wonder what business sense this is for Ebay to refuse these.
The whole point of the promotion is to get cash upfront and puff up their membership numbers, which is what would've happened if they had just honoured the deal. I doubt the amount of people who weren't actually targeted but activated the offer will really cost them all that much, and they can profit from additional sales from these unexpected Ebay Plus members.
By fighting it, not only do they waste resources and ruin their reputation (and maybe cop a fine), but based on their T&Cs and how their CSRs have insisted on-record that "you will get the voucher", it's very likely that cancellations or chargebacks will happen. And after this debacle, who would be willing to take up the next Ebay Plus offer? It's just absolutely ridiculous IMO.

  • +1

I just chatted with their customer service. This is what I was told. Apparently the voucher is automatically (and randomly) issued by their system from 4th July and members could wait up till 1st September 2022 to get voucher since the voucher validity is until 23:59 (AEST) 30 September 2022. If in any case, we do not get voucher by 1st September 2022, re-contact them to get it further escalated. I reckon Ebay could do better than this!

    • I got the same email response just now.

    • I am lucky I guess?

    • +1

What a load of shit. I'm not sure who the Chat CSR's answer to but it certainly often sounds like they aren't connected with the team that runs the promotions. I've previously had someone here from OzB hit me up in PM's with a suggestion to email eBay Australia's managing director when I had them refusing to credit me for a Final Value Fee promotion for a fee well over $150. Unfortunately he (Tim Mackinnon) has now left so unsure if his inbox forwards to the new managing directors office, but might shoot off a quick email none the less as within 3 days the fees had been reversed.

    • +1

No way should any of us be expected to wait until end of September. This is not a lottery. That sounds like such a cop-out reply

      • +1

CS is a total crap shoot at eBay. Don't like the last story you heard? Call back and listen to a totally different one.
Some of them seem to make it up as they go

        • 1000%

        • +1

I guess the silver lining to that is they'll most likely say something dumb that will make it easy to win disputes/chargebacks

          • @highwind: Yeh that’s the only plus side. They normally do some deals to match / compete with Prime Day. Fully expect we will get our vouchers afterwards ;)

Would be interesting to see what % of people have missed out on the voucher

  • Could someone here please confirm whether they have received the $30 eGC along with the $20 voucher after signing up?

    • $30 is after next payment so unless you cancel prior to sign up you can't get it. Only got $20 and $50 vouchers from signing up with no membership beforehand active.
