Is This Genuine? Quilton 3-Ply 180-Sheet Toilet Tissue, Pack of 45 $9 + $4.99 Delivery @ Amazon AU (Third-Party Seller)

Normally $21 ($18.90 S&S) from Amazon.

A new third-party seller called told store was selling Quilton toilet papers for $9 + $4.99 delivery (regardless of quantity).

Now it disappeared and the seller is no longer listing the product.

Was this a scam or genuine offer?

Update: I received a cancellation email from Amazon.

We wanted to inform you that the seller of your order is no longer active on Amazon.com.au and we have canceled your order.

According to customer service, the only personal information shared with the third-party sellers are name and address for shipping purposes (phone number and email address are not shared).

    Seriously.

Common sense comes into play… Amazon gets big discounts from suppliers and transport companies, so I very much doubt a 3rd part company could charge half their price…

If it looks too good to be true… … .. .

what is the scammer trying to achieve?

Harvest contact info, name, address, phone number, email… Bring on the spam… … .…

    Looks like a shitty deal

I wouldn't wipe my arse with it !

(in recent days this "deal" has been like an un-flushable floater)

Was this a scam or genuine offer?

    It's a number 2 scam

  • Might have been second hand

I contacted Amazon and they said there is a guarantee of receiving any items orderd even from 3rd party sellers. They weren't worried if the seller was a scam

    • What if it was a scam to harvest contact info?

      • +1

Yeah I hope that wasn't the reason as that's pretty shitty. I kinda use amazon over ebay for the peace of mind to prevent any issues

Damn, that seems like a good way to target a product you like.

i.e. You want Quilton and then create a fake account selling Quilton to push the price lower and then get Amazon to foot the bill.

I don’t think that’s how it works.. I couldn’t read anything think like that in the Amazon page. Otherwise they could just list a TV for $1 and make Amazon bankrupt.. the customer service probably misinterpreted it.

        • +1

The customer service probably meant to say that you'll be refunded if you don't receive the exact ordered items.

If the 3rd party seller has no stock.. what is the point of the guarantee?

    • +3

I contacted Amazon and they said there is a guarantee of receiving any items orderd even from 3rd party sellers.

Amazon wins every time someone buys something. I’d guess lots of people never bother claiming low volume stuff that isn’t delivered.

They weren't worried if the seller was a scam

Amazon don’t give two flying ….. about anything other than keeping you in their platform and skimming a percentage off every transaction. They are a corporation built on profit first, absolutely screw everything else.

  • This deal is back up.
Purchased then cancelled after seeing this post.
    Not taking the risk

    • It disappeared again.

  • It is available again. Wondering how is Amazon allowing to post such deal if it is scam?

  • Oh Crap didnt see this post and paid GC Arriving 10 Jun - 15 Jun. Wont let me cancel in the App?!

    • To be honest I don't what are people afraid of. I have knowingly placed order. I don't think my dob or passport details are on Amazon. So just name, address mobile no is not going to allow 3rd party to scam me.

      • Its building a picture of you. Collecting data to onsell.

        • And what data? Name, address, phone number? Are these not easy to get anyways?

          • @amsaini15: I’m not a criminal nor a data collector. Seems odd that you’d be willing to risk it though.

I was scammed by this deal. Gave a live tracking number from FedEx in America. They are using different account names every time. Amazon refunded no probs but have seen 4 different seller names used for this deal so far.

    • So what are they trying to achieve? Amazon won't pay them if there are any issues.

      • +1

Maybe the whole scam is to convince the target that the malware email/sms they're sending is legit. Enough for you to click on the link to download the malware into your machine/phone.
