  • Never had tyres last so short with the Turanza Serenity Plus. Had to change them 3 times in 2 years.

    • How many kms did you do for each set?

    • +3

Definitely your driving style is to blame. My Serenity Plus lasted 70,000km before changing them, mostly freeway driving, but if I did city driving, I reckon they would last 50,000km easily.

Just changed them last month. This time I went for the Goodyear Efficientgrip Performance, which is even quiter and grippier than the Serenity Plus, but a tad bit more expensive.

Can confirm Serenity Plus will last the distance. Had them fitted to my car in 2017 and they did about 50K km and probably could have 60K but then my car got written off from an accident.

    • +1

Ha, almost exactly the same as me. My Serenity+ had done about 55K and my car was written off. Probably could have gotten at least another 5K from them.

      • Haha. Hopefully you have another car to use at least! Sadly, I do not and probably won't get my new car until next year …

        • Why such a long wait? I spent 4 weeks looking and test driving different cars before I bought my car. Cost a small fortune in hiring a car during this time.

          • @omblygombly: Ordered a brand new one (another Corolla). Was told six months, but at the rate things are going, I'm expecting to wait for a year for it.

  • Any thought on these versus the michelin xm2+? Looking to change all 4 ecopia 300 as I find them too firm

  • are these always on sale?

    • I bought 12 tyres from a Bridgestone last month (all 3 cars due at the same time) and managed to negotiate a Buy 3 Get 1 free on a set of these for my car despite them not being part of the sale last month. I had called a few other Bridgestone dealers who wouldn't do a deal on these even with 12 tyres so paid off to ring around.

Such a shame RE003's are bad

    • +2

How are they bad? Im curious, I thought they were good. I’ve had them on my car for ages and they were way better than the non performance tyres i have now

      • They don't last long, they have terrible traction for the price point. Much better off paying a little more for PS4s if you are actually after a performance daily driven tyre.

        • +1

Oh good to know, thanks mate.
I did think they were wearing a bit quickly but I bought them used with ~70% tread after they were lightly tracked and mostly daily-ed.

          • @badaircraft: Yeah it is unfortunate, to be honest I would definitely spend the slight extra on a Pilot Sport 4 it is the best sports daily tyre for the price.

    • +1

They work well for me. But they are an old pattern now - my first set was in 2015.

    • They are good tyres for spirited driving in both wet and dry. The latest iteration (RE004) may never be brought in, but these are already decent enough for the price you pay, and support more niche sizes than your Michelins or Yokohamas.

Having said that, your car’s setup, your driving style and purpose all play a role in how well you all gel together. I’m sure it is possible to setup a set of PS4S up so wrong that someone will think they’re awful tyres too!

  • What is the recommended Bridgestone tyre for a hot hatch?

    • I’d recommend the RE003 if you don’t have too much horsepower, I’ve driven a Megane RS280 with the RE003 and they didn’t seem to handle the power well.
In the other hand, I’ve had so much fun with my 200hp Astra with RE003 on.
      If you’ve got a lot horsepower, I’d try theirs S001, it’s a brilliant tyre.

  • I got 80,000kms out of my Serenity plus tyres (hatchback). Didn't think they were very good… more suited to a larger touring car. Replaced them with Ecopia EP150s about 18months ago… huge improvement in ride quality.

  • $615 = 225/45R17
    Approx $154 each.
I'm thinking of replacing two of my rear 6 year old tires, even though there's plenty of thread left.

Would it be worth to buy 4, store 2 and use 2?

    VW Golf. RE003 VS TSP?

  • I have a 2009 Forester XT (200kw at all four) and trying to decide between the RE003 and the Serenity plus, leaning towards the serenity for longer wear life (value for money) - don't do much spirited driving these days.

    Anybody comment on RE003 life?

They are $225 in my size at costco - 225/55/17

  • These or the primacy 4s? Around 550 for a set of these for my focus vs 660 at Costco for the primacy 4s with $50 cash back at the moment. Not really driving hard. More looking for smooth ride + quiet for daily commutes.
