Slightly higher than the previous deal but good opportunity for someone who missed last time. Has been cheaper before according to CamelCamelCamel.

Note: These are not covered by Ego's 5 year warranty but only by 1 year of Amazon AU's warranty (which few have noted as a hassle, in reviews. YMMV).

I am pairing this up with recent in-store promotion of Sydney Tools and Ego's redemption offer.

  • I got it last year at the cheaper price. Mostly got it for the edger , which is really good. The only downside is only 2.5ah is suitable as the counterweight effect from a 5ah or 7.5ah is way too heavy. Does a good job edging.

Multi-tool head is worth it alone imho , if you need to use any of the other tools.

    • shoulder strap might help? dunno.

I grabbed one anyway, starting to build up a bit of an Ego collection.
I am really hoping they release the LM2156SP here in Aus, but its really not looking good at this point.
Still need a chainsaw, hedge trimmer, and maybe the pole saw too for the power head :)

    • Try re-adjusting the handle further up if you can. The handle should be close to the centre of gravity with the heavier battery on. I only have the 2.5ah battery and am planning to get some larger batteries so i'd be interested to know how it goes.

    • i only have 7.5 battery. will it still be ok?

  • Having the weight at the top was bad design imo, the battery only lasts ling enough for already edged lawns or small sections.

I got the cheaper mains powered used unit for $50 and it has been great, no frustration with battery life and the weight at the bottom makes it less fatiguing and more steady.

$300 for a cheap circular saw on a stick is a little much imo.

    • Once you get through that initial cut of your lawn then it's only regular maintainence work and just glides through.

    • +1

Mains powered garden anything sucks. Yes they are way cheaper but I had a bunch of mains powered garden tools I hardly used as they were so much of a hassle

      • Cords are definitely less convenient, I find zero issues though. First world et al.

  • +1

Great buy thanks! Nearly pulled the trigger at total tools for 1000! (trimmer head and edger)

    • looks like you owe OP some treat

  • +1

    heh.
    Edging.

  • This is good value but I decided to go Stihl KMA135R instead. The edger alone cost $299 :(

  • I've bought this is the previous deal. Works really well, can't complain. I'm firmly embedded in the ego ecosystem and find all their tools to be really very good. I do find the mower struggles though on Kikuyu unless you're a regular weekly mower though.

    • Agree about the Kikuyu, especially if it wet or there's a dew. Maybe my blades are due for a sharpen.

    • Which mower and battery combo do you have? What percentage of lawn height are you cutting off when it struggles?

      • In all fairness, i went "relatively" cheap, which is the issue. I've got a 1703e mower and mostly using it with a 5v battery. I realise that's probably part of my problem, especially given I have a decent sized suburban lawn with extremely thick Kikuyu.

I'm mostly trying to maintain it at the 3rd height setting or so, which my impression is required to stop kikuyu thatching. Mostly I use the catcher, i find it hard to use the mulcher unless you're doing it very frequently.

I mostly find that the tendency is for me to gradually increase the cutting height until I need to pay a gardener to cut it short. Maintaining the height is possible and not too difficult, but lowering the height causes it to stall every meter or so. Which is a problem if I end up leaving it for too long, or if we have a rainy week.

    • +3

Yeah the biggest flaw of the mower is the front wheel suspension. It doesn't belong there and just messes up that delecate balance between blade height and RMP that the operator can control to prevent a stall.

I love every EGO product I own. Chainsaw, blower, snipper, mower, hedger.

I still can't justify an edger though. Real men just put the whipper snipper vertical and tolerate a bit of extra ankle stinging.

      • I have both the line trimmer and the edger. I'm a bit rubbish at using a line trimmer and have sticks for arms, so i struggle to get a good clean cut with a line trimmer. Also my arms vibrate for an hour afterwards. Happier having both.

I also recommend the the hedge trimmer. Cuts amazingly. No wires and no petrol is great.

      • Strimmer will do the job, but an edger makes very nice crisp edges and you can tell the difference right away

    • That's the case with all battery mowers I think, I have the RMA 510V it is absolutely useless in long grass and I don't like the way it cuts much either. Gone back to old petrol Honda..

    • Any tips on where to get cheaper batteries? I have an ego whipper snipper I bought when masters closed (wow just realised it was 2016) and the battery will probably need replacing in a few years - still works but just does the bits I need rather than having surplus battery meaning i have to recharge if I am not careful before finishing the job

      The snipper is brilliant though.

      • They're bundled with things now and then, and ego do have "free battery with X spend" promotions every so often (it's a relatively high spend though). Not sure otherwise.

        • Thanks, seen them but never at a reasonable price - Ive got all the garden stuff I need (Ryobi mainly) so only after a battery…

  • Thanks OP! Missed out last time.

I already have the Ego hedge trimmer, line trimmer and blower, been waiting for this!

  • +2

So let me get this straight… for $267 you get these two items, priced at $528, but with reduced warranty?

    https://www.totaltools.com.au/multi-tool-20cm-edger-attachme…
    https://www.totaltools.com.au/118036-56v-multi-tool-power-he…

    OK now I'm buying one.

  • +1

soo tempted but I just purchased Ego line trimmer which does somewhat similar job

    • +2

Line trimmers are one thing but an edger like this does such a better job.

      • Yeah if you are anything like me, you got the snipper in your hands and you just get it sorted rather than using the edger.

I really should use my edger but it is very occasional

    • +1

Yeah I bought this because I love my Ego gear but I agree the line trimmer is so good - so I don’t use this normally. Maybe would be good to establish a nice line and then use the trimmer after that.

It’s such a good deal though and looks good in my shed next to the trimmer hehe

Maybe if there is a deal on some of the other attachments I’ll get value out of having the power head

  • will 7.5 battery work with this?

  • Is this the brushless power head or the older version?

    • Yes - High-efficiency brushless motor.

      • So obvious when I look again! Thanks :)

  • What’s the sydney tools in store promo?

    • +1

They had for one day on click and collect orders placed on 5th May. I purchased $1000 and got $200 as store credits usable within 3 years. Also that $1000 spend allowed me to claim the redemption from Ego worth $200. So, got $400 worth off on $1000 purchase. They usually have it few times a year. Same with Total Tools. Timing them is difficult.

  • Crying, I need it but OOS

    • Looks like it's back in stock. I ordered one.

    • you need to keep the page open in your browser and check it every day

I have been doing that since missing out on it last time it was on here back in March. Its a pain in the ass, but if u actually want one its the best way to go about it. I bought it a couple days before it ended up back on here. Once they are listed on OzB they disappear pretty quick

  • Again, missed it.

  • Battery & Charger Not Included??

    • Correct. It is aimed at someone already in the EGO system.

  • Any suggestions where I can buy a affordable Battery & Charger for it?

  • +4

The skin and edger itself cost $528. One cannot expect such a deal with battery, charger and edger for $267.

    • You are right, i just placed the order and think about it later

  • Great deal, ironically missed it while mowing the lawn and wishing for an edger.

    • Back in stock, just nabbed one. Thanks OP!

  • Geez, been looking at upgrading my Ryobi 18V stuff, but was torn between going all in with Ego or Makita as I can then use their power tool skins.
