Interested in ideas/experiences of purchasing an ipad 3 at a good price.
I've been thinking of the following:
1) Procure ipad 3 with staff/student discount (approx 5% off);
2) Claim gst on exit from Australia;
3) Claim outstanding amount on Tax.
Figured that by doing this, I'll end up with a pretty good deal.

The cheapest place I've heard to get the ipad3 is big W at the moment with their everyday price.
Some organizations offer gift cards for BigW at 5% off for cash or 4% if bought with a card. You can then use these to save a little more. Another point to consider though for anyone who has a credit card that offers extended Warranty it pays to use that card for the extra warranty. - extending the warranty to 2 years with Apple costs a lot more
Maybe buying giftcards. My friend used to sell them on a site somewhere, Sold them for 90%, buy them for 95%.

You missed the Myer gift card deal. You could've got Myer to price match bigW then claim GST back on exiting Aus.
Might have to just go with the Woolworths/BigW gift cards. 5% off and then claim GST too…
