75"+ QLED, OLED, Full Array LED, Mini-LED or Quantum Dot TV for Gaming?

I'm looking for a replacement for my 65" Bravia kd-65x8500e which I have loved, but has started to restart on its own and i'd like to replace it before it stops completely.

the only 2 things I want are:
- 75" atleast: we are 3.5mtrs from screen to seats, which they is suggested for 82", but $$$$ https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/by-size/size-to-distance-r…
- HDMI 2.1: 99% of content comes from an Xbox Series X

Everything else I am confused with, especially when it comes to comparing the different terms between each brand.

It looks like the LG C1 OLED is the popular and ticks the boxes (OLED77C1).

Is it worth the premium even when it's 'last years model'?
Is OLED the way to go? or is mini-led the new go to?

or should i be looking for something else?

i would be wary of using OLED / LED TVs for gaming, mainly because most, if not all games have a HUD, which will probably get burned into the screen if you play it a lot.

Surely by now we can put this issue to rest? Does anyone have any lived in experiences of OLEDs burning in while gaming?

Rtings did a long running test from 2018 onwards clocking some 9,000 hours and concluded that the average user had nothing to worry about.

      It’s a good read.

      • Samsung at the time did a good job at spreading this rumour and there's still clowns that believe it.. long gone are these issues these days though

Using an OLED C1 55inch with the Xbox Series X, the quality is fantastic, love playing mechwarrior on it.

Only issue is that I've gotten used to gaming on a 32inch monitor about 60cm away so start a session lying back on the chaise and somehow I magically end up perched on the edge of the chaise right up near the tv….lol

There are OLED PC monitors these days, so if manufacturers are confident there won't be task bar burn in, I wouldn't worry about a game HUD.

  • So the consensus is to go OLED over the new tech?
